Historia
A drug cartel pours into a gap left by twin terror attacks, amassing invincible weapons in a push to dominate Southwest America. But no matter how powerful his tanks and machine guns, no weapon can force trust with the people closest to him. Nor can military force alone exterminate the relentless spirit of America, which is anything but dead.

Talking like a Texan?
Revisado: 04-14-24
The fiction of the series has some basis in realism. However, while the voice actor helps sell the fiction, it only carries it so far. This book strays the furthest from the realm of common sense. While evident in regularity, the mimicry of voices even under stress is laughable in its ridiculousness.

Historia
A rogue Russian nuke sails toward the harbors of Los Angeles in the hull of a ramshackle sailboat. Without destroying a single building, the bomb shatters the latticework of the American dream, toppling one piece of the economy after another. A group of Special Forces veterans and their prepper friends scramble for survival in a worldwide catastrophe so psychologically disruptive they are left questioning everything they ever believed to be true.

Ragnar Tellevson is not my first choice
Revisado: 03-20-24
It was very difficult to determine who was speaking as everyone sounded the, however, the women did sound a bit different as if Ragnar had something stuck in his throat when they spoke. I had high hopes on this series, but the voices, or lack of, have substantially lowered my interest.

Fourteen-year-old Greg Dixon is living a nightmare. Attending boarding school outside of Boston, he is separated from his family when a pandemic strikes. Not a fan
Revisado: 02-27-24
I found that I kept wondering how much better the story might be if it was performed by someone other than Scott Brick. After reviewing others and their thoughts on Brick's performances I suspect I may be in the minority. Regardless, my opinion is that his tone is sad or depressing to me to listen to. I will attempt to complete the audio book but I am finding it difficult to listen to.

Declined over time
Revisado: 07-14-23
The start was fairly good and enjoyed Grandma's letters throughout, however, the letters became few and far between over the series. I felt that the final book was the least applicable to the series and that it was disjointed especially the large time jumps There was as much sex between the characters if not more compared to preparations that Joe's group made over time. If someone is waiting for a new book in another series with another author and they need a filler book while they are waiting... well... this would work, but otherwise I cannot suggest that this be something that someone should rush out and read.

Historia
The Mad Mick’s new employer, Walter Lightspeed, has promised great things for America. Lightspeed cleared the way for his rise to power by skimming the dead weight off government, assassinating a legion of career politicians, lobbyists, and agency heads. Now only one barrier remains between him and the presidency—wrangling the support of the military. If he lives that long. Conor and Ricardo have their concerns about Lightspeed, but that’s not enough to make them surrender their lucrative contract work with him.

Light-less-Speed
Revisado: 06-26-23
Up until book 7 I have been a fan of the series, and even after the introduction of Lightspeed I continued to listen to the book 8. However, it was my hope that the FH would allow the magic to just happen and move onto another plot but it has to play out... slowly. My displeasure with the story is such that I returned 7 and 8 today after seeing that 9 would continue to perpetuate the Light-less plot. I will continue to monitor FH works to see if perhaps in book 10 things improve and my interest is renewed.

Historia
It was a hard-learned lesson but Jim Powell finally understood that isolating his group of friends and family was no longer the best idea. It was a strategy that had once kept them safe, but lately seemed to be doing exactly the opposite. Staying out of town and away from people had led to them missing critical intelligence—that there were people in their community actively plotting against Jim.

Well, I made it to the 5th episode and couldn't struggle with it any longer. I will see if there is perhaps another podcast of the same genre but with a less juvenile story.

A particularly s l o w and juvenile book. Perhaps better directed to pre-teens or those JUST getting into the genre. Two steps back for Akers and her effort(s) to advance Danny Brown. This is the first of Akers books that I had to return.

Chapter 2
Revisado: 08-05-21
I was just starting chapter 2 when I knew that this was a book that needed to be returned. Too many publishing companies are churning out this genre with no regard to produce a quality product just the intent to possibly garner a few bucks. Just because a spellcheck was done does not imply that they author is knowledgeable about the topic.

Historia
Nuclear Winter enveloped the planet with its relentless barrage of dark, sooty air. With each passing day, more and more people died. In a desperate attempt to give people a chance to survive, some government leaders chose to marshal the assets of their community. It was a polite way of saying take from those who have and give to those who have not.
