Paul Michael delivers another spell binding performance of a Dan Brown intellectual thriller. The "Terminator" feared by the AI skeptics is far more likely to take the form created here than a self-propelled killing machine.

Above My Pay Grade

The history of the development of "blockchain" technology was more than a little confusing but the implications for the data masters (Google, Amazon, Apple, etc) was more than a little fascinating. I can see an unholy alliance forming between the data masters and the Central banks (the Fed, ECB, BOJ, etc.) to fight off this extraordinary threat to their preeminence.

A Must Read

If you have ever wondered how much of the "American history" taught in our public schools is merely propaganda this book is a must read. I read "Lies My Teacher Told Me" years ago and this is an excellent sequel.

If you are looking for a smoking gun...

That the Russians attempted to influence the 2016 US presidential election was clear before this investigation began so it is not surprising that they concluded the same thing as the entire United States Intelligence community (see James Clapper's book, the last few chapters). That said, their influence did not determine the outcome of the election which makes the rest of the exercise mute. Did our sitting president attempt or conspire to obstruct the investigation? Yes. Did he succeed? No. Is being ineffective at criminality an impeachable offense (high crime or misdemeanor)? If it were we would have had to impeach all Presidents back as far as at least Woodrow Wilson.

Worst Delivery Ever

Dennis Logan's listless, toneless delivery drains any and all literary interest out of this book. How he manages to speak without hinting at any punctuation is astonishing. It is difficult to image a career where this kind of "communication" would be valuable. I am actually very interested in the subject but this is the second book that I have tried narrated by him and there will not be a third. I wish that Audible had a feature where I could filter out any book done by him.

Maybe A Book Would Be Better

This production was amateurish and irritating which did not help a very weak story line. The "special effects" were just loud and not effective at helping set the scene. The reports from the World Cup event which began with the same dateline is now burned into to memory and I won't be able to get rid of them.
