Historia
Benedict de Spinoza's Ethics, first published in 1677, constitutes a major systematic critique of the traditional and religious foundations of philosophical thought. In it, Spinoza follows a logical step-by-step format consisting of definitions, axioms, propositions, proofs, and corollaries to create a comprehensive inquiry into the truth about God, nature, and humans' place within the universe. From these broad metaphysical themes, Spinoza derives what he considered to be the highest principles of religion and society and lays out an ethical system in which reason is the supreme value.

Historia
The irascible A. J. Fikry, owner of Island Books - the only bookstore on Alice Island - has already lost his wife. Now his most prized possession, a rare book, has been stolen from right under his nose in the most embarrassing of circumstances. The store itself, it seems, will be next to go. One night upon closing, he discovers a toddler in his children’s section with a note from her mother pinned to her Elmo doll: I want Maya to grow up in a place with books and among people who care about such kinds of things. I love her very much, but I can no longer take care of her.

Enjoyable

This was a good read. A mystery… sort of. But the development of the characters was my favorite. Light read.

Historia
The Appalachian Trail trail stretches from Georgia to Maine and covers some of the most breathtaking terrain in America - majestic mountains, silent forests, sparking lakes. If you’re going to take a hike, it’s probably the place to go. And Bill Bryson is surely the most entertaing guide you’ll find. He introduces us to the history and ecology of the trail and to some of the other hardy (or just foolhardy) folks he meets along the way - and a couple of bears. Already a classic, A Walk in the Woods will make you long for the great outdoors (or at least a comfortable chair to sit and read in).

My favorite book
Revisado: 06-20-20
I absolutely love this book. The story line, Mr. Brysons sense of humor and the amazing facts regarding the great AT (Appalachian Trail). I’ve listened to it countless times. Most times from beginning to end and still laugh out loud and smile every time, even though I know what’s coming. Sometimes I fall asleep listening to it, with a smile on my face!
I do prefer Rob McQuays narration to Bill Brysons (no offense to Mr. Bryson as he is one of my favorite authors and I own and have read/listened to several of his works). I was somewhat miffed when I downloaded the audible update (a narration change from Rob McQuay to Bill Bryson). I’ve just now found my preferred narration in my online Audible library and once again downloaded it, I am delighted! (I haven’t listened to it yet and am hoping I am able to do so as I wasn’t able to do so previously!)
Try it, I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do.
