Historia
It’s 2006. After a string of rejections from men who tell her they could never, ever, ever see her “that way,” awkward third-grade teacher Micaela Blei signs up for a mysterious course called “The Divine Feminine,” and feels like she might have found the key to the perfect life. Turns out if you’re an A student, you can get an A in anything–including men. Pretty soon she’s learning to "conjure" her desires with vision boards, flirtations, and even a daring jumbotron viewing party for her, ahem ... "divine center."

Funny and thoughtful
Revisado: 02-13-25
I loved everything about this story. I felt differently about some of the events than the author, but that is part of what I liked. it made me think about ny own life and what I liked about her experience and what doesn't resonate. I think there is something for everyone to take from this story.

A fun story that will keep you hooked
Revisado: 03-29-24
A cute romance tied up with a good mystery. Wonderful characters that had thought provoking conversation. And it moved at just the right pace. It kept me hooked with every page with lots of twists, turn and new plot developments. I just loved this. It would make a great book club selection if it were in print.

Historia
I close the binder I’ve been writing in, and walk into the living room. As I stare out of the window at your house next door, I think about all the things I stand to lose if someone comes for me. My handsome, loving husband, who has no idea what I’ve done. My family, who have supported me no matter what. This beautiful home near the ocean, where I thought I would be safe.

Frustrating storyline
Revisado: 03-24-24
The story line was very far-fetched. I couldn't understand the train of thought of the main character. she was completely unlikable and whiney. It had a good basis and could have been a much better story. But too many things just didn't make sense.

Expertly narrated with interesting story lines. A little cliche at times but the characters are likable and it moves at a good pace. I loved them all in the series.

Good writing but poor story telling!
Revisado: 04-26-23
The only redeeming thing about this book was Conner's writing. The writing is beautiful. But I found the story to be poorly developed, unbelievable, and inconsistent. Not to mention just gross. So much time was spent on the gross aspects that would have been better spent developing the characters and story. The main character was flat. I never felt his pain and trauma that would lead a person to do what he did. I felt like his actions were not in character for him and what little we knew of him. Not much of it made sense to me. Even the ex-wife was an unbelievable character. Mothers who abandon children don't just all of sudden become overwhelmed with love without some reason. None of that was developed into a believable story. I only finished it because it was for book club. Otherwise, I would have abandoned it very early only on.

Can't put it down
Revisado: 03-18-22
It's been a joy listening to all 4 books. These books create a whole new world in such detail you feel like a part of it. The narrator is fantastic and helps to create each of the characters unique personalities. The only flaw I noticed was the American accents. Many narrators make the same mistake of over emphasizing the R's. But those characters are only around for a few scenes so it's easily overlooked. Overall, it's a top notch performance.
