Historia
Satyrs Newel and Doren are maturing into more responsible citizens after helping put an end to the dragon rebellion. But the thought of growing out of adolescence has the two goatmen in crisis mode. If that isn’t enough to worry about, a few unlucky inhabitants of Fablehaven have been found petrified, turned to stone, including fellow satyrs. Could this new threat be the workings of a dangerous gorgon?

Beautifully narrated! Story too short
Revisado: 03-12-25
I really enjoyed most of this book. I love Newel and Doran! They’re such fun characters! I was a little disappointed by the length of the book. It was pretty short, and everything seemed to be resolved almost too easily. I also thought the resolution at the end was unsatisfying. It was just too easy. And the scene where the satyrs are basically in limbo felt very unnecessary and bizarre. The narrator did an excellent job! Though I didn’t like the way he made Tess sound, I thought everyone else was spot on.

Hardest one to listen to so far
Revisado: 01-11-25
I love Louise Allen’s storytelling! But this one was a lot heavier to listen to. And I missed Louise’s humor. Some parts also felt overly graphic. My teenager loves this series, but she couldn’t get through this one.

Historia
In April of 1846, 21-year-old Sarah Graves, intent on a better future, set out west from Illinois with her new husband, her parents, and eight siblings. Seven months later, after joining a party of pioneers led by George Donner, they reached the Sierra Nevada Mountains as the first heavy snows of the season closed the pass ahead of them. In early December, starving and desperate, Sarah and 14 others set out for California on snowshoes and over the next 32 days endured almost unfathomable hardships and horrors.

Fascinating and very sad. The narrator was kind of dull to listen to. The story dragged in parts. Boys in the Boat was way better!

Intense
Revisado: 05-29-24
Another intense thriller. I really enjoyed the story for the most part. I didn’t want to stop listening. And I love how the recordings and podcasts are done with a full cast. And they sound realistic. Love that! I knew who Layla was early on. I thought it was a little obvious. But she fun, to follow the story as the characters figured it out. But Pip kind of bugged me sometimes. Especially when she vandalized Max’ house. I don’t think she should have committed a crime. And especially when she didn’t get caught or punished. Not okay. It also drives me crazy how the author writes Josh. He’s nine and then ten years old, but she writes his likes, behaviors, and dialogue as though he’s a four or five year old. Drives me crazy!! It’s clear the author has absolutely no idea how a ten year old boy would talk and behave.

Very fun, fast paced, and intriguing
Revisado: 05-19-24
The story and performance were really good! I enjoyed the fast pace and was on the edge of my seat through most of it. The only thing I didn’t like was the repetitiveness. There were too many moments where I just wanted the story to progress, not repeat what I already knew.

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.
