Great premise, strong start but loses momemtum
Revisado: 03-20-25
the first few hours are great when setting up the premise and story. overall it was entertaining and a good listen, but I felt like with such a great set up a better story could have been crafted. but then again I work in a warehouse so wtf do I know

The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

the series that redefined the LitRPG genre, and makes every entry in said genre pale in comparison, is back with another fun installment. I cannot recommend enough this series enough. it's so good.

Historia
Thrall, wise shaman and the warchief of the Horde, has sensed a disturbing change . . . Long ago, Azeroth’s destructive native elementals raged across the world until the benevolent titans imprisoned them within the Elemental Plane. Despite the titans’ intervention, many elementals have ended up back on Azeroth. Over the ages, shaman like Thrall have communed with these spirits and, through patience and dedication, learned to soothe roaring infernos, bring rain to sun-scorched lands, and otherwise temper the elementals’ ruinous influence on the world of Azeroth.

boring with substandard narration
Revisado: 10-12-24
mediocre at best. predictable with plot holes. narration was flat and unimaginative with lackluster character performance. my least favorite of the WoW books I've consumed so far. that being said, I was entertained and was able to finish it, so it wasn't terrible. 3 stars.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Everyone Wants to Murder Me But... These Boys Are Soooooo Cute!
Revisado: 07-07-24
I picked this book up during the last big sale. I'm always hesitant of female writers and narrators, but I like Fantasy and dragons so I figured I'd give it a shot. After all, it was super cheap, and I keep seeing this book everywhere. Man this shit is corny as hell. It doesn't make sense. We're presented this cutthroat world where anyone can die at any moment. Everyone wants to murder the protagonist, yet she's constantly commenting on how cute the boys are and having fantasies about them. Crap like this totally destroys the world that's being built. It's not believable. I'm currently on chapter nine. I haven't given up yet, but I've already ruled out acquiring the sequel, and I'm just waiting for a horrible plot point to archive this garbage and move on to the next book. Women authors really are the worst. Write good fiction and fantasy. I can't believe anyone wants to read this corny teen romance crap.

Historia
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

fun roller coaster ride, but a little short with improper pacing
Revisado: 12-24-23
really fun book! I randomly discovered this book as a free listen for audible plus members. I found myself on multiple occasions cheering out loud for Captain Wolf. I recommend checking it out, but I wouldn't recommend paying a significant amount of money for only 8 hours of content. there were a couple disappointing plot holes, but overall a great ride.

Historia
From Joshua Dalzelle comes the follow-up to the number-one best seller Warship. Captain Jackson Wolfe survived the initial incursion of a vicious alien species into human space...barely. He had assumed the juggernaut that had devastated three Terran systems was the herald for a full invasion, but for the last few years it has been eerily quiet along the Frontier. Jackson now struggles to convince the Confederate leadership the threat is still imminent and needs to be taken seriously.

a disappointing follow up
Revisado: 12-24-23
the first book in the series was a fun roller coaster ride to listen to, so much so I immediately started this one, ultimately to be extremely disappointed. I found the plot for this book extremely far fetched considering the insurmountable odds facing humanity. additionally, the books are too short and as a result the pacing is off and character development is non existent. I'd be willing to check out book 3, but 17 bucks for 8 hours of content is not a good value. Jackson wolf is a great character though!

bold title, I know, but I breezed through this book in 2 days because it was so damn captivating. a little suspense/horror mixed with fantastic world building epic Sci fi. awesome characters, great stories, excellent writing. and who can forget about the enigmatic and terrifyingly awesome Shrike? can't wait to see what book 3 has in store for me.

Historia
Currently, 3.7 million Americans call themselves preppers. Millions more prep without knowing it. Bradley Garrett, who began writing this book years before the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, argues that prepping is a rational response to global, social, and political systems that are failing to produce credible narratives of continued stability. Left with a sense of foreboding fueled by disease outbreaks, increasing government dysfunctionality, eroding critical infrastructure, people all over the world are responding predictably - by hunkering down.

a fun, fascinating, easy listen!
Revisado: 09-15-20
ive never been the first to do a review before! man, so much pressure. i saw the author on the joe rogan podcast, and was interested in some of the stuff he had to say, so i decided to pick up the book. while i liked the rogan interview, i kinda felt like the topic of conversation kept getting sidetracked by the host into topics not really about bunkers and prepping, but the author tried his best given the spotlight he was in. first, i really dug the fact how relevant and up to date this book is. what great timing to have a book come out about preparing for the end of the world during the end of the world, and he covers the topic of COVID 19 throughout the book. the performance was great. overall i gave this book 5/5 stars, as it kept me interested, and kept me coming back for more, and finished it in less than a day. i kinda felt like, at times, he was mocking the subjects he was covering though, to be fair, i got that vibe from the right wing preppers and the Trump hating preppers. i can tell the narrator doesn't like Trump a lot.

Historia
Our universe is ruled by physics, and faster-than-light travel is not possible - until the discovery of The Flow, an extradimensional field we can access at certain points in space-time that transports us to other worlds, around other stars. Humanity flows away from Earth, into space, and in time forgets our home world and creates a new empire, the Interdependency, whose ethos requires that no one human outpost can survive without the others. It's a hedge against interstellar war - and a system of control for the rulers of the empire.

entertaining but disappointed
Revisado: 12-30-18
overall, it was an entertaining listen, but an important decision made by the antagonist revealed a disappointing plot hole that ruined what would have been otherwise a great adventure.
