Wide array of true crime, narrator flat
Revisado: 08-06-24
The stories were interesting and compiled from all around the world and eras which make for very interesting reads. Some are very old and the author gives a good portray of the case and the constrictions to which investigators were tied to. I like the follow up she does in time, where posible. Overall she is one of my favorite authors. Yes, I was given the audio book for free for an honest review, but first I read a few of her ebooks before ever reviewing. The narrator falls flat. He just doesn't come up to the standard of the stories. Monotone, droning voice. Seems to me that he just started as a narrator. I hope that if he continues he will gain experience and therefore enhance the stories.

Detailed and big scope of stories
Revisado: 07-29-24
I found the cases very well researched. I specially liked the fact that the author followed the cases to the most recent updates as to what happened to the victim’s loved ones and also the criminal himself. It gives the sense of justice for the reader and not just the crime events.
This being a collection, the scope of the stories is ample and covers crimes from all over the world
As to the narration, I liked it better than previous ones I have. In previous audiobooks the narrator’s voice was very flat and boring, so much so that I often would fall asleep. Not so with this collection. I would say the narrator has more experience since the voice has better inflections which makes for a better listening experience of the audiobook.

Well researched stories
Revisado: 06-25-24
I truly like the stories, besides being well researched I find that the author represents the voice of the victims very well and in a compassionate way. As having had a story like this ( murder) in my family, I was dismayed when later the victim was portrayed like the bad guy, which he was NOT and the murderer like a victim.
That said I really recommend the audio books, which I have and also the books . With the narrator I had a little difficulty and I had to get used to, but I gladly give a 5 star rating.

Very descriptive
Revisado: 04-25-24
Pros: What I liked the most were the descriptions of the environment and situations. Even though this was a con for other reviewers, I personally liked it. It gave a better sense of being inside the story. Yes it slowed the story down, but this was not a mistery or thriller. It gave a sense of the psychological struggles of the characters. And since I was doing handwork while listening it gave the right pace. Cons: Sometimes the diction of the narrators was a little off, and that meant going back a bit to get it. And I am used to many different accents having worked as a translator. Another thing, but I guess that is just me, I don't like it when one gender tries to say someting like the other. For me it sounds way off, bordering on ridicule. And specially when there are two narrators. Overall enjoyable, easy listening when multitasking.
