Worth the read... but will need to dedicate time and focus to it to really get the most out of it.
Revisado: 01-10-24
It was a beautiful story. I felt like it was a bit slow and dragged some at times getting into the weeds of details, but that's mostly just my reading personality. It's very well written and causes you to slow down with it. Which is not a bad thing at all.

Texas, 1921. A time of abundance. The Great War is over, the bounty of the land is plentiful, and America is on the brink of a new and optimistic era. But for Elsa Wolcott, deemed too old to marry in a time when marriage is a woman’s only option, the future seems bleak. Until the night she meets Rafe Martinelli. By 1934, the world has changed; millions are out of work and drought has devastated the Great Plains. Elsa must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or leave it behind and go west, to California, in search of a better life for her family.

Historia
On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

So when he shows up on their doorstep out of the blue, they're shocked to see him alive. But more shocked to see he's changed. Radically. His anger is gone. He's oddly patient. Kind. Fun. Toren has no clue where he's been but knows he's been utterly transformed. He focuses on three things: Finding out where he's been. Finding out how it happened. And winning back his family.

Chapter 31 is a mess... Covered with edits
Revisado: 12-08-18
Story itself is great! BUT.... The AUDIBLE recording starting in chapter 31 has all the edits and even one part where the reader says "gosh darnit there's a lot of typos in this book"....."these typos are driving me nuts... Driving me nuts" They say certain sentences 5 times with different inflection..... Etc..... Dozens and dozens of times starting in this chapter. Ruins the story and makes it very difficult to follow. How did this totally unedited version make it on here? Wasted money. Should have just bought the hard copy. Unfortunate.

An easy enjoyable read. The thing about truth. ..is that it's one size fits all. The truth in this book is told in such practical and logical ways. .
and with such grace, authenticity and at times... knee slapping humor...that you breeze truth the pages soaking it all in. (#runonsentance #sorrynotsorry) WORTH EVERY MOMENT of every page! You won't regret it. ♡
