Historia
In a sleepy village in the Shire, a young hobbit is entrusted with an immense task. He must make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ruling Ring of Power - the only thing that prevents the Dark Lord Sauron’s evil dominion. Thus begins J. R. R. Tolkien’s classic tale of adventure, which continues in The Two Towers and The Return of the King.

You won't regret this purchase. So good! The reader performs the characters, the emotions, the songs, EVERYTHING so well. Breathed life into the story and renewed it for me.

Simply Christian walks the listener through the Christian faith step by step and question by question. With simple yet exciting and accessible prose, Wright challenges skeptics by offering explanations for even the toughest doubt-filled dilemmas, leaving believers with a reason for renewed faith. For anyone who wants to travel beyond the controversies that can obscure what the Christian faith really stands for, this simple book is the perfect vehicle for that journey.

Simply wonderful for modern world
Revisado: 03-09-22
One of my favorites. Just re-read in preparation for the sequel. It's easy to get confused and find yourself with a pitch-patched understanding of Christianity based on contrasting ideas common in modern worldviews. To resolve this, Wright presents an easy-to-read, snapshot view of a systematic theology in simple and understandable terms and contrasts it against the worldviews most common in a modern and post-Christian understanding of spirituality. What I appreciate most is the effort with which he ties the history of Israel and the old covenant with the new covenant, which climaxed with the Resurrection of Christ, and how that event (a staple of his teaching) should inform the mindset and actions of Christians since.

Entertaining but unsatisfying
Revisado: 08-16-21
My first read of author. Fantastic audio. Well-written, engaging characters and clever story. I enjoyed and looked forward to it, but was left feeling cheated in the end. Disliked author's bullying of one character with an unsatisfying resolution.

Audio better than written!
Revisado: 05-25-21
I usually choose audio for convenience as I spend a lot of time driving, but would USUALLY prefer to read. The performance of this series is extraordinary. So good that when I recommend this book, I always recommend the audio version.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

The story is fabulous and inspiring. One of the best things I've read in a long time. The performance was equally wonderful. the primary reader was fantastic. However, I loved the different readers for each character. It made it easy to keep the characters and perspectives straight.

Historia
When Jesus thought about the church, what did he imagine? Most churches are small, and rightly so. With power being redistributed in our time, networks of smaller enterprises are both growing and thriving. The yearning for participation and empowerment has us all looking for versions of church that make room for everyone. Perhaps, after all our hand wringing and insecurity about the size of our churches, we have missed the point. Microchurches can be strong, beautiful, accessible, and potent portraits of just what Jesus had in mind, if not for all time, at least for ours.

Good Appendage to Underground Church
Revisado: 11-14-20
I appreciate all Brian is doing to promote and develop the mission of microchurch ministry. This was helpful to me as someone pursuing the development of a microchurch network and trying to figure out how to encourage people and actually help them start and maintain microchurches. It is a quick easy read and seems to be geared toward the microchurch pastor. Extremely valuable for that. I sort of feel like it could be an appendage to his other book, Underground Church (which was fantastic).
The first half is thematically redundant to that book arguing for the value and need for microchurch. However, the second half really helps fill in some holes about the role of the microchurch leader and how he/she actually gets going.
It is always neat to hear the author read. I appreciate that. However, Brian seems to read in small emphatic bursts with longer pauses, which were a little distracting to someone seeking to learn nuts and bolts. I had to crank up the speed to about double.
Very appreciative of the Book and info! Worthwhile purchase! Thanks!

Post-apocalyptic Good vs. Bad.
Revisado: 09-07-18
I enjoyed seeing a post-apocalyptic story where it wasn't over the top with gore and language and the violence. The main character, Battle, is caught between being sacrificial or selfish and recognizes that there's costs both ways. My complaint would be that the book was too short and ended abruptly. It is like the author or the publisher needed a series and so they chopped the book in a half or thirds.

Good story, great read.
Revisado: 02-04-17
The story is in the tradition of the Lord of the Rings. In fact, it is almost the same story with different characters and a different talisman. But I like that tradition and enjoyed the story. The narrator did a fantastic job. I could see the characters and the accents and voices fit well.
