Don't Expect Much
Revisado: 05-15-18
The story isn't bad, but it isn't really that exciting either. I think it is rated higher than it is and that made me expect a lot from it. Each chapter ends with an answer not being answered. While the end was a surprise, I got annoyed with how abrupt chapters ended and moved on to a different person. The narration was hard to follow because there are so many characters I forgot who was speaking at different times.
I'm not sure why this has such high ratings. There are more suspenseful stories with better plot twists than this story.
It's nice that it's short. But it's just average.

You HAVE to Read Ready Player One
Revisado: 03-29-14
If you could sum up Ready Player One in three words, what would they be?
Futuristic Nostalgic Adventure.
What did you like best about this story?
It was really detailed and thorough from the beginning. I was able to imagine every scene. It is on the longer side of books, and the story flowed and there was no lag in it. It actually abruptly ended and could have been one more chapter.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The story made me happy and laugh.
Any additional comments?
I loved the throwbacks to some of the 80s detail. And not even knowing video games in detail or really living in the 80's I could appreciate and grasp the pop culture of that time.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

Entertaining but a bit lacking
Revisado: 07-31-13
What made the experience of listening to Water for Elephants the most enjoyable?
The narration was spectacular and really sold the book. The story was made complete through the older gentleman re-telling his years on the circus. I cried within the first 30 minutes.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would've liked more depth in the characters and the plot. It seemed for the most part one dimensional and as much as I enjoyed the older man, the story didn't really make me root for his younger self or his relationship with Marlina.
Which character – as performed by David LeDoux and John Randolph Jones – was your favorite?
The elderly man. He made me laugh, cry, feel angry and sad for how some treat their seniors. But that one character kept me listening.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I liked how the elderly man made it to the circus and the end result of that. I also enjoyed his friendship his bunkmate and the dog.
Any additional comments?
I thought the beginning was really moving and grasped my attention, but then near the end of the story there were pieces at the plot that I didn't like and thought could have been developed more. I think the book is worth listening to. It is pretty short, the narration is great, but afterwards I'm left wanting a bit more...

Perks Makes You Think
Revisado: 03-22-13
What did you love best about The Perks of Being a Wallflower?
I thought the story was well written and complex. I kept trying to figure out where the story was going and predict the ending, but you can't really do that with this story. You just have to listen and accept and take it in. It really made me think about my own life and I think everyone can take away something from the story. The narration was great too.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Charlie, you just had to root for him the entire time. The audience goes on a roller coaster ride with his emotions. Charlies sister was a close second. You could really tell the family dynamics, and I admired her support of her brother even with her own problems.
Which scene was your favorite?
Being from Pittsburgh, the Ft. Pitt Tunnel scene was easy to visualize and made me smile.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Experience the life of a wallflower.
Any additional comments?
The only negativity is that I really disagreed with the underage drinking and drug use. It didn't change my opinion of the story, but I really wish he would've stopped smoking...

Historia
Four years ago, LAPD detective Harry Bosch was on a movie set, asking questions about the murder of a young production assistant, when an armored car arrived with $2 million cash for use in a heist scene. In a life-imitates-art firestorm, a gang of masked men converged on the delivery and robbed the armored car with guns blazing. The crime was never resolved, and the young woman's murder was in the stack of unsolved-case files Bosch carried home the night he left the LAPD.

Twists Galore
Revisado: 12-25-12
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Oh yes, in this story there were three crimes all connected with many characters and many different scenes. It felt fast paced because Harry was so determined to solve this. He put himself in suspenseful situations, that always had you wondering.
Which scene was your favorite?
The very last. In Vegas.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, most of the Bosch stories I'll listen outside of my daily commute.

Hooked on Bosch
Revisado: 12-20-12
Where does City of Bones: Harry Bosch Series, Book 8 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I am listening in order, this would probably be 3.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I am glad there was a resolution to the story.
Any additional comments?
The story was not all that surprising. I felt as if the story was a bit more predictable than the previous Harry Bosch books. However the mission that Bosch is on and his need to find the truth really hooked me in. I could not stop the story and wanted to know the history in the bones. I immediately had to purchase and download Book 9!

Bosch's Past Revealed
Revisado: 10-07-12
Would you listen to The Last Coyote: Harry Bosch Series, Book 4 again? Why?
The story was good and a nice listen. I found that it was difficult to stop listening because I was so curious throughout the entire story. I don't think this would be the first story I would listen to again, but I do not think I would be bored if I decided to listen again, even knowing the story resolution.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Last Coyote: Harry Bosch Series, Book 4?
There were two that stood out to me. 1) When a police officer was murdered. I expected him to be a recurring name throughout the Bosche stories, so it was a surprise. 2) The conclusion of who had killed his mother so long ago.
What about Dick Hill’s performance did you like?
He is able to portray the different characters personalities and emotions really well.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I enjoyed when Harry Bosch spoke with the Psychiatrist and Jaz about his youth.

Would you listen to The View from Saturday again? Why?
Probably not, but that doesn't take anything away from the Book. I just do not re-listen very often.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Julian, I loved his confidence and his spirit.
What does Jenna Lamia and Jan Maxwell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
They were delightful, they nailed the personas of each child and person in the story.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Julian's response to bullying was inspiring.
Any additional comments?
The story was very quick and an overall good book to read. The beginning started out a little slow. But, hang in there- it gets better.

What did you love best about The Second Summer of the Sisterhood?
The girls are growing up. I find myself really wanting them all to succeed and find themselves. This summer was more complicated and their situations were a bit more serious than the first.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked Carmen in the first book best, but Tibby in this one. I relate to her the most. She makes mistakes, but she tries to correct them.
Which scene was your favorite?
B, on the soccer field.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Tibby and her movie
Any additional comments?
I am downloading the third summer right away to see what comes next. Hopefully, their relationships are a little bit better next summer. That is my only complaint- How the girls seem to be so enthralled by guys. I understand its a teen book, and they are teenagers. However, I'm starting to tune out Lena's life.

Roller Coaster of Emotions
Revisado: 06-17-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close to be better than the print version?
I never saw the print version, but I was told there were some pictures and letters that were missed by listening to the story verses reading the book.
What did you like best about this story?
The story was not one dimensional. I did not realize where the story was going, so it was a treat to listen to. I also felt the characters to be complex, so throughout the story I was rooting for some, and then annoyed with them a chapter later.
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
I thought the performance was just OK. I understand how the book was written and cannot think of away around this. But I did not like the sudden voice changes for the grandmother/grandfather chapters.
If you could take any character from Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close out to dinner, who would it be and why?
The father! He seemed like such a knowledgeable character. I think that dinner would go by really fast.
Any additional comments?
The book was a gift from a friend, because I said I would not see the movie, before reading the story. I have yet to watch the movie.. but I am very interested in seeing how it was done. Although it took some emotions (cried, laughed, was angered, etc.) by the end, I was satisfied.
