Historia
Michael is coming undone. Adrift after his wife's departure, he has begun taking himself on long, solitary walks across the English countryside. Becoming ever more reclusive, he’ll do anything to avoid his empty house. Marnie, on the other hand, is stuck. Hiding alone in her London flat, she avoids old friends and any reminders of her rotten, selfish ex-husband. Curled up with a good book, she’s battling the long afternoons of a life that feels like it’s passing her by.

Very likable characters, in turn touching and hilarious
Revisado: 01-04-25
I’m not normally into romantic novels but this one is great - both characters are three dimensional and extremely likable.

Historia
If she wasn’t dead already, Delphie would be dying of embarrassment. Not only did she just die by choking on a microwaveable burger, but now she’s standing in her ‘shine like a star’ nightie in front of the hottest man she’s ever seen. And he’s smiling at her. As they start to chat, everything else becomes background noise. That is until someone comes running out of a door, yelling something about a huge mistake, and sends the dreamy stranger back down to earth. And here Delphie was thinking her luck might be different in the afterlife.

Historia
In this pathbreaking book, Jonathan Rauch reaches back to the parallel 18th-century developments of liberal democracy and science to explain what he calls the “Constitution of Knowledge” - our social system for turning disagreement into truth. By explicating the Constitution of Knowledge and probing the war on reality, Rauch arms defenders of truth with a clearer understanding of what they must protect, why they must do - and how they can do it.

Great companion to Post Truth and The Coddling of the American Mind
Revisado: 11-17-24
A book about “practical epistemology”, it has in common with other books such as Post Truth, The Coddling of the American Mind, The Righteous Mind, and Moral Politics, that they are not just about politics although they have a lot to say about it and, while leaning to one side more than the other, don’t spare either one along the way. Highly recommended to anyone interested in free speech and/or “applied” moral philosophy.

Sci-fi spy thriller combined with a love story, and full of dry British humor - a great read! And the audiobook delivery is impeccable.

The premise is interesting, but the writing is unimpressive and the narrator’s tired tone makes it even worse. Skip ahead to the author’s much better other works.
