It was supposed to be a simple job: Tail the Italian for an evening, see if he was up to anything shady, and report back to the Bratva. But I didn’t expect him to go into gay bars. Is someone trying to out me to the Bratva? Am I being set up? Now, we’re both in way over our heads. Our only hope is working together. And even then, I’m not so sure we’re getting out of this.

Entertaining and over the top
Revisado: 02-08-22
I enjoyed listening to this audiobook, it definitely requires a suspension of disbelief, but I doubt I would’ve liked a super realistic mafia story.

Madcap, futuristic, Sherlock Holmes
Revisado: 08-09-21
I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. Nicholas Boulton did a fantastic job narrating all the different characters. The whole thing was back-to-back mini adventures in pursuit of an unknown blackmailer. I think I might’ve enjoyed the story more if it had been trimmed a bit. I didn’t connect with the main characters as much as I wanted to, but I did love Alexis Hall’s spin on Sherlock Holmes and John Watson with Ms. Shaharazad Haas and Captain John Wyndham.

Super sweet
Revisado: 05-16-21
I already loved this series in ebooks and I really enjoyed hearing the first two books come to life in audio. It took me a little bit to warm up to Drew Baca’s narration and there were some stilted moments, but overall I think he did a good job. I never felt confused about which character was talking, irritated by any particular voice, or distracted by quirks like loud breathing or awkward sound effects.

Historia
Recently-divorced Joel is finally living as a gay man, but he’s not sure he’s ready to jump into a relationship. That doesn’t stop him from noticing his new contractor’s muscular build, hewn from hard, physical work, or his storm-colored eyes. The icing on the cake? There’s more to Finn than good looks. Maybe he’s the perfect guy to share long walks on the beach and warm nights in front of a fire. But it’s been 20 years since Joel was with a man. While he’s not forgotten how to flirt, he’s nervous about making a move. Especially with Finn.

Sweet, but a little too slow
Revisado: 04-17-21
The pacing didn’t really work for me. There was a lot about Finn’s friends, but none of them really stood out. I did really appreciate that there were multiple strong and supportive female characters. Joel’s family felt more fleshed out than Finn’s friend group.

Historia
Rupert is a quiet, thoughtful business man and, sadly, a total wimp. As his life has reminded him on an almost daily basis since, this isn’t the most brilliant idea he’s ever had. And that was before Callum showed up. Callum figures he can push through the rest of the summer, never expecting two kids, a host of friends, and his growing feelings for Rupert to derail everything he has ever believed about what he wanted, and what he could have.

Low Relationship Angst
Revisado: 03-24-21
I really appreciated that there was almost no relationship angst between the two main characters. There was plenty of excitement outside of their relationship though. Sometimes the story dragged a little, especially during the long and chatty/introspective sex scenes, and the ending felt abrupt. I liked the side characters and how understanding Rupert was.

Cute
Revisado: 03-13-21
This was a cute story and a fun way to spend a few hours. The narration was great for both characters. I would have liked to see the characters together more, but I liked them as individuals and got how the fit even if there wasn’t really any relationship development.

Good, but definitely a middle book
Revisado: 03-10-21
Justin continues to recover and get to know Dallas again in this book. It is a mostly hopeful read with a few minor set backs. I really like them as a couple and it was good to see their progress even if it felt more like a bridge between books 1 and 3 than it’s own compete story.
I also like the narration, but there are a few editing errors (repeated sentences/phrases) that stuck out to me.

Entertaining
Revisado: 02-08-21
I really liked the first 3/4 of this audiobook. I was kind of disappointed by the relationship drama and how it played out though. The narration was pretty good, dual narration is hard for me though because I almost always prefer one narrator and get impatient for their chapters. The guest chapters didn’t make a lot of sense to me, but I haven’t read any of the connected books so maybe they would’ve meant more if I had.

Revisado: 02-04-21
This is my go to sleep story. I’ve tried others, but always go back to this one. The story is interesting enough to distract me from thoughts that would keep me up, but “boring” enough that I fall asleep halfway through or earlier every time.
