Historia
He is considered by many the greatest basketball player ever produced by the hoops-crazy state of Kentucky. In two years at the University of Kentucky, he scored over 1,000 points, led the Wildcats to a Sweet Sixteen appearance and was nicknamed “King Rex.” The first player ever drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, he spent twelve seasons in the NBA, dazzling in dunk contests and sinking one of the most memorable buzzer-beaters in league history. But by the end of his career, Rex Chapman was harboring a destructive secret.

I appreciate the authenticity of Rex and his story. He takes ownership of the good and bad in his life. I can relate to much of his story. Gives me courage to continue to share my story. As a side note, I enjoyed the insider details of his days at Kentucky and in the NBA.

The Process of Unlocking the Power of the Mind
Revisado: 04-22-24
Great listen (or read)! What stood out to me was the step by step process of unlocking the power of the mind. Either you allow your mind to use you as a tool or you become conscious and use your mind as a tool to create the life you want. Highly recommend.

Historia
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Very revealing about myself
Revisado: 06-12-23
Taught me a lot about my past trauma and how my body, mind and soul cooed with it. I am learning how to take my personal healing farther. Plus I have a deeper appreciation as a wellness doctor to help my patients recover from trauma and empower them to live better lives.

Historia
In 2012, on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device left Dan Crenshaw's right eye destroyed and his left blinded. Only through the careful hand of his surgeons, and what doctors called a miracle, did Crenshaw's left eye recover partial vision. And yet, he persevered, completing two more deployments. Why? There are certain stories we tell ourselves about the hardships we face—we can become paralyzed by adversity or we can adapt and overcome. We can be fragile or we can find our fortitude. Crenshaw delivers a set of lessons to help you do just that.

Common sense that isn’t so common.
Revisado: 08-29-21
Great book! Inspiring! Pain and suffering lead to happiness. Nothing comes for free even if it seems this way. Thank you for taking a stand for the human spirit and reminding us of how great we have it as a society. Not everything is perfect here but we have the possibility of making it better and we all have a part in that. Thank you for sharing your story!
