Historia
In Fiasco, Kentucky, there is one rule: never fall for a Foxx brother. Any woman who did, ended up dead—or so the rumor goes. Townies call it a curse. But I’ve lived it, and I won’t survive it again. I’m not a cop anymore, but I’ve seen enough danger to know that Laney Young, the beautiful stranger who just showed up in my small town, is running from it. She’s lying about where she came from and what she’s doing here. I don’t want her near my family or the quiet life I’ve made for myself. But my brothers have other plans.

Just what I needed!!
Revisado: 04-25-25
It's been awhile since I had a romance listen that brought everything together so well. I thought this was well-written, a great balance of steamy romance, suspense, family, and fantastic narration as always. by Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor! Victoria Wilder is a new author to me, and I will definitely look forward to the next book in this series!

I’m just so exhausted—always living on the edge of desperation, one paycheck away from ruin. But this new job… It could be the fresh start I need. It could change everything. The contract is only for three months, but if I keep my head down, work hard, and prove myself, maybe I could stay longer. Maybe I could make Black Mountain Lodge my home. As I pull down the gravel drive, surrounded by the forest and mountains and bright blue skies, I feel something I haven’t felt in a while. I feel hope.

UGH, What was the author thinking with this kind of a format?!
Revisado: 04-14-25
Hats off to Connor Crais and Erin Mallon, as always. They are two stellar performers and they always deliver. I love the premise of this whole story, strong capable, independent main female character, older man, grumpy, mountain setting... all very appealing to me. What I can't figure out is why on Earth the author chose to have a chapter break every 30 seconds or maybe 2 minutes or occasionally. something slightly longer. But most of the 'chapters' are so unbelievably short that they are more like a few sentences, and it was nothing but distracting and interruptive because there was no flow to the story. Sadly I am ditching this with still 5 hours to go because I just can't.

Beautifully written, raw, real, unforgettable.
Revisado: 03-26-25
There aren't many authors that can write like Suanne Laquer. This is the fourth book of hers that I have listened to in the last few months, and it would be an understatement to say that I am continually stunned by the depth of her writing, the complexity of her characters, and the raw emotions that hum through me every time I listen to one of her stories. Darren Eliker is absolute perfection as a narrator.

Great narrators, MEH story and writing.
Revisado: 03-24-25
first, let me say that I don't like dissing authors because I truly respect anyone who writes for a living. The storyline/trope itself is fine, the characters had great potential, but it just felt like there was such a lack of substance and depth. Perhaps that's due in part to the length of the book (short). I'm not always a fan of spending a credit on a title that's less than 5 hours unless there is a really compelling plot and characters with a bit of complexity. Not going to rush into the next in this series. Always great narration by Aaron Shedlock & Ava Erickson!

Another fantastic narration by CC and SB! Great, emotional story by Marni Mann
Revisado: 03-16-25
Marni Mann never fails to deliver an emotionally charged book, and this was no exception! It was definitely a little darker and more of a tearjerker than the book that preceded it. That said, it could certainly be listened to as a standalone. still very good, but have the tissues ready!

Historia
My name is Adelaide Edington, and my life was mapped out for me before I even entered the world: who I'd date, where I’d attend college, what I'd be when I grew up. But there comes a time in everyone's life when they face a fork in the road. Should I go left, or should I go right? It didn't matter as long as I didn't remain stagnant any longer. Jett Stone opened me up to a whole new world, reminding me that it was okay to find my own way. I could have roots in Willow Springs and still spread my wings and fly. What I didn't expect was to fall in love with the broody football player.

Love this author, but DNF this one.
Revisado: 03-12-25
I really enjoy Laura Pavlov's books, so I blame this DNF on Audible for not making YOUNG ADULT one the first highlights/bullet points to snag listeners.
It's a very sweet story (I am almost 5-hours in), and I'm sure that will continue, but as someone a bit older, I don't really need to re-live my high school years. Don't get me wrong, it's lovely and I think many younger women will enjoy it! And I will absolutely continue to enjoy other books by Laura Pavlov, just not this series.

Great narration by Andi Arndt...story, OK only
Revisado: 03-07-25
If you like your romance with a bit more spice, this book isn't for you. It almost went into the DNF category after 4 hours, as I kept wondering when it was going to get more interesting. I came back to it listening to something else, hoping for more, but the story really just plods along. While I did finish it, I can't say there was anything truly memorable about it, other than Andi Arndt, as she is a favorite narrator.

Opal is a lot of things—orphan, high school dropout, full-time cynic and part-time cashier—but above all, she's a determined to find a better life for her younger brother Jasper. One that gets them out of Eden, Kentucky, a town remarkable for only two things: bad luck and E. Starling, the reclusive nineteenth century author of The Underland, who disappeared over a hundred years ago. All she left behind were dark rumors—and her home. Everyone agrees that it’s best to ignore the uncanny mansion and its misanthropic heir, Arthur. Almost everyone, anyway.

Historia
From the moment Quinn Montgomery sat behind her first snare and cymbal set, she was destined for fame and glory. As Hush Note’s infamous female drummer, she sets the rhythm for the band’s chart-toppings hits. When people tap their feet to their music, it’s to her pulse. Quinn is content to live in a world away from her family and the cage of her youth. Her only regret is leaving Graham Hayes behind without a goodbye. No matter how many sold-out stadiums she plays, no matter how many crowds sing her songs, his voice haunts her when the music stops.

Good, but not great.
Revisado: 07-28-24
Let me preface by saying I am a HUGE Devney Perry lover, as well as both of the amazing narrators! I have enjoyed the many previous titles of hers immensely, and she is an automatic 'Buy Using 1 Credit' push for me! However, this one has been my least favorite of hers. The story, pace and spice factor felt just a bit lackluster.

The first letter arrived the day my husband was buried. It was postmarked from the state penitentiary, and contained a single sentence: I’ll wait forever if I have to. It was signed by Dante, a man I didn’t know. Out of simple curiosity, I wrote back to ask him what exactly he was waiting for. His reply? You.
