Excellent Story of Many Fascinating Events
Revisado: 11-03-24
Excellent Book! This book had so much in it: listening to Dickie Arbiter's life story, hearing about the history of the monarchy and England, and his duties with the Queen and the media. I loved his caring, compassionate attitudes about different issues the royal family had, including the divorce of the Prince and Princess of Wales. Listening to the author read his own story was a bonus. Well done, sir! Thank you for sharing your fascinating life with us.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Great story, with some interesting twists. The reader did a wonderful job. There's nothing like people working together to right a wrong. I'm older than the target age for this book, but I ignore that. I've read some wonderful books in all "age grouos." This is one of them.

California girl Lola has her life all set up: business degree, handsome fiancé, fast track career, when suddenly, without warning, everything tragically implodes. After years fruitlessly searching for love, marriage, and children, she decides to seek spirituality and meaning far outside the parameters of modern life in the insular, ultraorthodox enclave of Boro Park, Brooklyn. There, fate brings her to the dysfunctional home of newly-widowed Jacob, a devout Torah scholar, whose life is also in turmoil, and whose small children ache for the kindness of a womanly touch.

Revisado: 02-05-22
I can't say enough about this book. Wonderful, very human characters, and I cared about them all so much. It was a look into a culture I know very little of, and I appreciated that as well. The story, performance, and everything about it was superb. I want to read more by this author.

History, fascinating people, and a full life. Loved the author reading her book! That was a definite plus. I felt as if I knew Lady Anne; it was like listening to her story over cups of tea. I was sorry when the book ended. I would love to meet the author in person. What an incredible life, heartbreak, joy, and everything in between.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.
