What was the purpose of this bk? It did nothing to further the plot of the series. The author dangled everything readers could have wanted for Flinx in bk 8; only to have it snatched away and a vacation dropped in our laps. It feels like a bait and switch of the worst kind. Furthermore it is a bit callous to have Flinx go on vacation right after the possible death of his maybe lifelove. On the whole, Alan Dean Foster you have some explaining to do.

Let's count BK 9 as a "Bad Trip", as in why do I like Sookie bad. And this BK is the Recovery! It's not jammed pack to bursting with jumbled action and plot. (no fan event timeline nec.) It's a recovery for Sookie herself and for Sookie fans alike. Though necessarily light it builds a practical, thoughtful, and sensible Sookie in a thrilling way. I give it a 3 because it needed a more definitive Sookie/Eric relationship. But I guess that is Charlaine leaving room for her "byways to get there" eventual life partner plan(Hopefully). There will be at least 3 more bks. Plus, just maybe her Werewolf lore could be more compelling.
