Going along good until . . .
Revisado: 09-27-22
I’m a Leo (w/Moon & Pluto all in the 8th — Sag rising) and fairly well versed in Natal charts. Yet, I know I have so much more to learn. I was truly excited about listening to this podcast and your take on the lion. At least until the very obvious political bias began. Turned me completely off. Comparing “DT” to world leaders who were/are obvious psychopaths, and who as stated by you, isn’t even a Leo, but calling the rapist Bill Clinton, “cool” and BO “Charismatic” (to whom?) was just too much for me. How about just giving us the facts and your expertise in regards to astrology (I’m certain you have some) and leaving your personal idol worship and biases out of the astrology lesson? Sadly, I think you’ll be in for a rude awakening as far as politics are concerned, and for astrological name calling, coming up very soon. You will be swallowing your Scorpio/Leo “know-it-all” pride — big time! You’ll wish you left the Gemini, DJT (no matter the Leo influence) out of your comparisons. He may end up to be the only SANE one in the bunch . . .

Historia
California girl Lola has her life all set up: business degree, handsome fiancé, fast track career, when suddenly, without warning, everything tragically implodes. After years fruitlessly searching for love, marriage, and children, she decides to seek spirituality and meaning far outside the parameters of modern life in the insular, ultraorthodox enclave of Boro Park, Brooklyn. There, fate brings her to the dysfunctional home of newly-widowed Jacob, a devout Torah scholar, whose life is also in turmoil, and whose small children ache for the kindness of a womanly touch.

Fascinating — learned so much!
Revisado: 07-01-22
Everything you always wondered about but were afraid to ask. Afraid because you know that you’d fall profoundly short and that you’re basically; halfhearted, uncommitted and lazy.
Puts you through a wild range of emotions. I went from I only wish I could’ve; to, ‘oh jeez, I could NEVER, I’m very contented with my own personal form of Judaism.’ However, a chapter or two later, I was right back to deep wistfulness and questioning everything about this beautiful faith I thought I’d finally had all figured out.
I’m a convert who came to the party late. I believe I did everything right or that I could, in the scope of my “reality.” Where it’s led me — and I still do. Nevertheless, I have many, many questions about my own journey that will most likely go unanswered.
A beautiful, insightful story. Don’t miss it . . .

Sadly had to return . . .
Revisado: 12-20-18
Well, I made it through the entire first book in the series by the skin of my teeth, with this narrator. That feat was only accomplished because I stopped and gave myself long breaks. However, I was unsuccessful with this second.
Perhaps, it just me. But, the quiet, sing-song type breathy voice — with practically every sentence ending in the same cadence, just starts to grind on my last nerve. It simply ruins the whole story when you’re grinding your teeth through every chapter. A narrator can definitely make or break an audible book.
Therefore, my happy revisit to this Deveraux series will end here — or at least the last two will need to go Kindle. It has almost burnt me out on audible romances entirely. Yet, I know there are some fabulous narrators out there to be discovered. I’ll just need to bypass any with Ms. Zackman at the helm.

Nearly lost me but Kleypas saved near the end...
Revisado: 11-03-18
I loved the uniqueness of this story. A widow, with a child, who meets a self-made, extremely wealthy commoner with a heart of gold. I adored Zachary Bronson, but Holland (Holly) daughter of an Earl, overexaggerated primness became a bit tiresome and irritating. Throw in her dead husbands family, with their over-the-top insults, insults that Holly just seems to take in stride, and it was not a good mix. Even little Rose seems influenced negatively at times with her mothers silliness.
Kleypas rescues Holly in the end, before she becomes completely unlikeable, and just before her illness, but whoa - I was seriously about to move on to my next audible book.
Shame that Kleypas could not have kept Holly more honest because she had all the basics for a fantastic, memorable heroine. But the conflict and tedious focus on propriety, even started to interfere with the dynamics between the protagonists. I almost stop believing in their mutual, sexual attraction.
Still, it was a touching story overall.

Will Go Down as One of My All Time FAVES!!
Revisado: 07-03-18
I thought I adored, “Lord of Scoundrels” but this is right up there with it. I loved each character and especially so our hero. Secondary characters like, Bertie and even Susan the Mastiff, were an adorable addition. When I cry in a novel and can feel real emotions even though I fully understand I’m listening to a fictional romance, I know I’ve found a winner and a story I’ll remember forever.
The narration was wonderful, never distracting, and Kate Reading doesn’t speed through the story and/or lines of the characters. You can just sit back and enjoy without the need to rewind repeatedly because you missed something or it was horribly garbled. If I had to do that, it was an outside distraction only.
I pay special attention to reviews and comments about each narrator. They can definitely make or break an audiobook. I definitely have a list of my favorites now and also those I stay away from or listen to only when absolutely necessary.
For sure add this heartwarming story to your library!

Historia
Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury's to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne'er-do-wells by night. Now there's a new item on the list. He needs an heir - which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar's daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she'll do.

Could’ve been 5 Stars!!
Revisado: 07-03-18
I liked this little book, but I didn’t love it like I thought I would. Started out so good and I was happy with the characters. They could’ve been sexy and fun but they became irritating instead. This was due to the narration. It started to really grind on my nerves after a few chapters and it was so distracting I soon lost interest. I realize it’s hard for a woman to maintain a male voice throughout a novel - and vice versa. Only a few narrators can successfully pull it off. The problem was each time the male hero, “Ash” spoke, it about blew my eardrums out and he sounded whiny and I hated that because I really liked his character. I wear earphones to listen and it was quite uncomfortable and at times a shock to your system. Another problem was she read too fast. Therefore, some of the nuances of the story and the humor was lost. I just wanted it to end. She sure isn’t the worst that I’ve listened to, but if I wrote that book, I would insist she practice a bit more before tackling the next in the series. I would definitely avoid another story narrated by her or screen it first for sure.

Revisado: 05-19-18
I’ve been reading romance novels for more than forty years - and, “The Highwayman” will go down as one of my all time favorites. This audible version is expertly narrated by Derek Perkins. Every key character is developed fully, but not tediously - and you either adore or detest them. I was enchanted from start to finish. Bravo to Kerrigan Byrne!

Revisado: 05-15-18
I really enjoyed the this trilogy, but this was definitely my favorite of them all - with the first book in the series coming in second place. Most notably; the narrator Saskatoon Maarleveld is one of the best! I usually can barely tolerate a women’s voice for the duration of an audio book, but she is right up there with the finest of male narrators. Don’t hesitate to listen to this exciting Scottish tale!

I absolutely enjoyed every moment of this audiobook. I learned so much and it's one that I'll turn to repeatedly - and recommend highly. It was easy to follow and Mr. Andrews voice is a pleasure to listen to. What a gifted, insightful and talented man he is. It was fun, lighthearted, and I really needed that for a change.

Powerful!
Revisado: 08-19-17
Had never thought to try this type of meditation, believing that it was only for the deeply evolved spiritually - but that is just not so. This audiobook gently guides you in the technique of the OM and your mantra. It has given me peace I've never experienced before after literal years of attempting to meditate and for the most part failing.
Perhaps it works especially well for someone like me with AADD. It keeps me focused and the OM's coming thru the headset by the other participants gives you a sense of oneness that is very comforting. Instead of dreading the daily battle that my challenged brain goes thru to stay centered, The OM and your Mantra has become my go to that I'm excited to do each and every morning. I've finally found a meditation that works and I'm extremely grateful.
In addition, you have two separate sessions one with the narrator (Colin Griffths-Brown) who has a fabulous speaking voice giving you guidance - and I so appreciated that. And then you have the other session without direction when you feel ready to fly out on your own (you'll know when that is).
Use this with Glenn Harrold's , "Mindfulness" audiobooks, and I promise you'll be on your way to a more peaceful existence . . .
