Kept Me Guessing

I’ve read 20+ Pendergast novels (more than once) and just about everything else these two authors have published, yet they still managed to keep me in suspense throughout this newest Nora Kelly book. It was also great to see my second favorite special agent becoming so skilled and professional while still maintaining the sass and feistiness of her youth. I also loved the sneaky Easter egg-ish reference to Ice Limit 4. I’ll have to pick that one up next. ;)

Loved it…and I’m Not Even a Cat Person

This one has been on my wish list forever, so I was excited when it finally dropped. It did not disappoint! It’s readable, hilarious, and unpredictable. WW also did a fantastic job with the narration.

Couldn’t Relate

I gave this book a couple of stars for its portrayal of eating disorders since it illustrated the complexities of these conditions with more depth and realism than I’ve seen in other books. However, there were just too many other issues for me. I couldn’t relate to any of the characters, especially the protagonist, Amy. I initially felt empathy for her, but after the first quarter of the book, her decisions became unrealistic and were completely disproportionate to the magnitude of the actual conflict she was facing. I also didn’t like the ending (for reasons that would be too difficult to explain without using spoilers). It also did more “telling” than “showing,” which made it feel long and repetitive at times. It had a lot of potential, but ultimately fell short for me.

Abbott’s Best Yet

Best night’s sleep I never got! This one kept me guessing - on the edge of my seat - from start to finish. The narrators did an excellent job as well. Abbott is among the very best in this genre!

Best in Series (so far…)

I absolutely love the non-stop, ‘twisty-turny’ action and intrigue of this series, and I can’t wait to read the next one! The narrator is great as well - I have no clue if it sounds authentic to native speakers, but I especially love when he narrates with a Russian accent.

Loved it!

This was such a fun book (and excellent narration)!The plot was entertaining and interesting enough to keep me engaged, but I loved the quirky characters most. If only we could all have a best friend like Pete, a love like Julie, a better version of ourselves, and, of course, a Bobo!

The Midnight Library offers a simple reminder of what matters most, as well as a fresh perspective on regret and hope. I have already recommended it to friends.

The audiobook narrator was also fantastic - I hope to find more of her work as well as the author’s.
