Historia
Do miracles still happen today? This book demonstrates that miraculous works of God, which have been part of the experience of the church around the world since Christianity began, continue into the present. Leading New Testament scholar Craig Keener addresses common questions about miracles and provides compelling reasons to believe in them today, including many accounts that offer evidence of verifiable miracles.

Inspiring Faith, But Lacking Respect for Other Religions
Revisado: 04-09-25
The book shares compelling examples of miracles through prayer and faith in Jesus, which can be inspiring and uplifting. I appreciate the author's effort to provide supporting details and sources. However, I found the portrayal of other religions—particularly in the chapter on India—disrespectful and intolerant. While expressing one's faith is admirable, it’s important to acknowledge and respect the diversity of beliefs and thus miracles possible through prayer and faith in God even in other religions.

Amazing Narrators
Revisado: 01-17-25
The narrators did such a phenomenal job and along with the sound effects, they brought the story to life. Bravo!! The story has a good premise but the development is just okay. The ending felt rushed. The main characters are well written and very likeable. The narration is definitely the highlight!

Richard Osman has done it again!
Revisado: 10-19-24
As a fan of the Thursday Murder Club, I was curious about this one. In the beginning, this book engaged me slowly as a lot was going on too fast to pay attention to and the characters were still a bit unknown. They did not have the instant humorous likability or chemistry like the ones in Thursday Murder Club. But then as the story progresses, they became more interesting and the story was full of adventure and mystery was well developed. This series (hope it's a series) holds it's own and turned out to be charming, fun and well written. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Engaging from start to finish!
Revisado: 07-29-24
Extremely engaging story and characters. Keeps you hooked. One small critique is that the story spends a lot of time in building up and the mystery seems to stagger until the end when it picks up again.

Historia
When Scotland is hit by the recession, Police Constable Hamish Macbeth notices that the Highland people are forced to come up with inventive ways to lure tourists to their sleepy towns. The quaint village of Braikie doesn't have much to offer, other than a place of rare beauty called Buchan's Wood, which was bequeathed to the town. The savvy local tourist director renames the woods "The Fairy Glen," and has brochures printed with a beautiful photograph of a kingfisher rising from a pond on the cover. It isn't long before coach tours begin to arrive.

Quite dark
Revisado: 04-21-22
This story was quite dark compared to other Hamish Macbeth mysteries. Did not feel like a cosy mystery at all. Nonetheless, the narration was excellent. And it kept me wondering who was responsible. The ending for me was unsatisfactory and dragged out. I missed the usual characters and their interactions. Dick is a nice addition.

Historia
There's a witch running loose in the town of Excelsior, Minnesota, and her brew is…beer. Actually, Leona Cunningham, co-owner of The Barleywine, is a practitioner of Wicca, which many mistakenly believe to be sorcery or black magic. Then, after one too many pints, local alcohol aficionado Ryan McMurphy accuses Leona of being a real witch, blaming her for the series of accidents. When Ryan ends up dead, without a mark on his body, Leona is not only the target of a witch hunt but also the prime suspect.

Enjoyable, easy listening
Revisado: 04-03-22
This is an enjoyable story with interesting characters. The mystery unfolds well. I had missed this narrator and glad she is back! The way she narrates each character is how I have come to recognize them. So I prefer her narration over anyone else's. Easy listening and cozy atmosphere, what I have come to like about the Needlework Mysteries!

Gentle by name, gentle by nature. Everyone in the sleepy Scottish town of Lochdubh adores elderly Mrs. Gentle - everyone but Hamish Macbeth, that is. Hamish thinks the gentle lady is quite sly and vicious, and the citizens of Lochdubh think he is overly cranky. Perhaps it's time for him to get married, they say. But who has time for marriage when there's a murder to be solved? When Mrs. Gentle dies under mysterious circumstances, the town is shocked and outraged.

Historia
When the historic Hopkins ferry was raised from the bottom of the lake, who would have thought they were literally raising the dead! But there it was—a skeleton—right before their eyes. Unfortunately, the evidence is slim and soggy: the boat sank in 1949, the victim on board was a woman, and near the body is a piece of unidentifiable lacelike fabric. Sounds like a job for Betsy Devonshire. Betsy knows there's more to this story than what’s on the surface.

Engaging, charming, good story!
Revisado: 02-01-22
This was a very nice mystery! The whole story was engaging and cozy. I figured out who did it a few chapters before as it was quite obvious. But it wasn't too soon, so I was able to finish the story without spoiling any fun. I liked this mystery better than the first book. I will continue reading them! So far they perfectly fit the description of a cozy mystery!

Historia
Just when everything at the Poor Relation Hotel seems to be running smoothly, Sir Philip brings in another poor relation, Mrs. Budge. When Sir Philip presents his paramour, Lady Fortescue swears great oaths and says the woman is probably related to half the costermongers in London and certainly does not possess one rich relative. Mrs. Budge does nothing but eat all day and refused to do any work around the hotel. Worst of all, Miss Tonks seems to be taking the romance between Sir Philip and Mrs. Budge quite hard.

Same vibe as the other Poor Relations stories
Revisado: 01-11-22
Overall the same vibe as the previous books in series. It was a cozy listen but nothing extraordinary. I initially liked these books for the humor element as well but this one did not make me laugh. Still, I listened until the end while it was moving ahead in the predictable ways. I wouldn't say I was super engaged in the story, but the narrator's performance kept me entertained.
