Historia
A slender novel of epic power and the winner of the Booker Prize 2024, Orbital deftly snapshots one day in the lives of six women and men traveling through space. Selected for one of the last space station missions of its kind before the program is dismantled, these astronauts and cosmonauts—from America, Russia, Italy, Britain, and Japan—have left their lives behind to travel at a speed of over seventeen thousand miles an hour as the earth reels below.

spellbinding
Revisado: 11-18-24
The presentation of life in space was outstanding. It was hard to stop listening when I had to stop. The details, which could have been dry and boring, were presented in a spellbinding way.

Historia
Renée Ballard is working the night beat again and returns to Hollywood Station in the early hours only to find a stranger rifling through old file cabinets. The intruder is retired detective Harry Bosch, working a cold case that has gotten under his skin. Ballard kicks him out but then checks into the case herself, and it brings a deep tug of empathy and anger. Bosch is investigating the death of 15-year-old Daisy Clayton, a runaway on the streets of Hollywood who was brutally murdered and her body left in a dumpster like so much trash. Now, Ballard joins forces with Bosch.

Historia
Everyone knows Yogi Berra, the American icon. He was the backbone of the New York Yankees through ten World Series Championships, managed the National League Champion New York Mets in 1973, and had an ingenious way with words that remains an indelible part of our lexicon. But no one knew him like his family did. My Dad, Yogi is Dale Berra's chronicle of his unshakeable bond with his father, as well as an intimate portrait of one of the great sports figures of the 20th century.

A love for his Dad
Revisado: 06-17-24
Nice recount of the relationship between him and his family. However some of the details in the book are different from the details of events in the movie about Yogi. Also one chapter had nothing to do about Yogi but his son's and granddaughter's problem with drugs.

Set in Italy during World War II, this is the story of the incomparable, malingering bombardier Yossarian, a hero who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him. But his real problem is not the enemy - it is his own army, which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service. Yet if Yossarian makes any attempt to excuse himself from the perilous missions he's assigned, he'll be in violation of Catch-22.

Like looking at an ugly baby
Revisado: 02-05-24
Even though it was hard to follow at times and you got confused, I think that was part of the plan. I thought about stopping but kept going back to see what happened next. A crazy mix of story, doublespeak, illogical dialog between the charterers, pretzel logic, or to sum it up - Catch-22!

Historia
Like many well-to-do Upper East Siders over the age of 65, esteemed art appraiser Percival Skinner had planned to spend his retirement living off his savings. But a market correction has left him living below his prior means. One day he’s visited by a dapper fixer in search of a famous work by a Renaissance master. Skinner knows the work well: The original was owned by his ancestor, and was passed down through his family over the generations. If, as an intermediary, he can coordinate a sale, a small fortune awaits. Problem is, he might not be the only one on the make.

Not his best effort
Revisado: 10-25-23
I have listened to many of Archers' books, and this one didn't measure up. Predictable characters, boring use of the twins recounting the Col. Blood history, and no real ending. I guess you will have to buy his next book, but I won't.

Didn't know what I was getting when I started, but I couldn't wait to keep going on. The reader's accent and the writer's use of Irish terms was a challenge on occasions.
