Historia
What’s a goddess to do? After being lost at sea and taken prisoner by yet another denizen of the Titan realm, Quinn finds herself cold, wet, miserable, and very much alone. Until a familiar and unexpected face steps back into her life to remind her who she is - and has always - been: A fighter. Following this revelation, Quinn can only acknowledge that some journeys require circuitous routes, even if that means attaining her freedom and rushing - not to the rescue of her besieged allies - but to the mythical island of Aeaea, home to the infamous witch, Circe.

My only issue was when the narrator did Nate. He sounded like a teenager.

Burn saves it...
Revisado: 06-09-19
I struggled through this one, due to the narrator. in all honesty, I went and grabbed the KU copy to finish the story. I did like the plot, although the main character is really immature. If it weren't for Burn, I don't know if I would have liked it. She seems to bring about some growth in Mike by the end of the book. I'll have to read the next one to see if that promise holds true.
I think there must be a prequel though. there were several references to Mike and Alayna in the past, without a lot of detail (Alayna saved my life, etc).
If Burn isn't in the next books, I hope she gets her own series.

Poor editing - couldn't finish
Revisado: 12-15-18
Iwasnt able to finish listening. 'll buy this in ebook format. The audio editing (not the narrator) is terrible. i think I would like the story and narrator but the edited describes sounds like a completely different man jumped in to read a phrase or sentence.

Historia
The Droods are all about control, making people do what they're told for the greater good. The Nightside is all about choice: good and bad and everything in between. The Droods want to make the world behave. The Nightside wants to party. They were never going to get along. For centuries, ancient Pacts have kept the Droods out of the Nightside, but now the Droods see the Nightside as a threat to the whole world. They march into the long night, in their armour, to put it under their control. All too soon, the two sides are at war.

An emotional ride
Revisado: 08-12-18
The Nightside has expanded, killing everyone in the Wolfshead, and no one knows why. The Droods decide the Nightside must be conquered, to save Humanity, pitting Eddie Drood and Molly Metcalfe against John Taylor and Shotgun Susie.
It's no secret that Night Fall was the end of the Nightside and Secret Histories series. I was reluctant to buy it for that reason. I have missed John Taylor over the past few years, as well as Razor Eddie and the others. I thoroughly enjoyed Secret Histories as well. But for Night Fall...
For me, it was an emotional ride. I spent a good portion of my listening time angry. Angry at the characters, angry because I expected better of the Droods, the Authorities, everyone...Does that sound strange? I suppose it would, but I had a true emotional, visceral reaction to much of the story, which doesn't happen that often. The ending is a surprise and I often thought I knew who was behind it all, but was wrong. It does wrap up some story lines though, sometimes not in the way you would expect or even want. Characters die, and some of them are characters you know well.
Gideon Emery is a great narrator, but I wish there had been a way to bring in Marc Viator for the voices of the Nightside. I didn't hear John Taylor, or Shotgun Susie in their own 'voice', which somewhat diminished the performance for me, especially since I was saying goodbye.
In the end, I was sad to say goodbye, but it was a great book. It pulls you into the gritty, shocking, violent confrontation of the Droods vs the Nightside, and doesn't let you go until the end.

Historia
A single raindrop opens a Pandora's box of horrors when the spawn of perverse genetic research performed during World War II - refined by Cold War enemies and perfected by nature - are unleashed on an unsuspecting world. By dawn only a dead city remains, eerily quiet and still except for the mutant beasts who hide from the light, multiply, and await the shadows of day's end.

Twists and Turns
Revisado: 07-10-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I did not expect the direction taken in this book. At each point where I thought there would be some resolution, there was a surprise. If it were a movie, I would have been on the edge of my seat! As it was, I sat in my driveway several evenings for a full five minutes because I didn't want to shut off the player.
What does Phil Gigante bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narration built tension in all the right places. I could easily differentiate between characters, subtle accents and intonations made it very real and engrossing.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Time permitting, I would have loved to listen in one sitting.

Best one yet!
Revisado: 05-18-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I've been a fan since the first Lincoln Lawyer book, but I really think this is the best one yet. I caught myself sitting in the driveway, because I didn't want to turn it off.
Mickey is caught in that grey area of the law that his ex-wife & daughter don't believe in, and that his former client lived in. His emotional wellbeing thru the entire book is raw, and pulled you in. It was a roller coaster ride from beginning to end, and I was glad to ride along.
What did you like best about this story?
The references to the movie caught me off guard, and made me smile. :) But I always love the (very) brief tie in with Bosch. Without giving away the story twists, there were some events that didn't just rock Mickey's world, but also brought tears to my eyes. When a book can do that, it's a great book.
