Courageous with Empathy under 90 minutes
Revisado: 06-01-23
This shines from a lived experience perspective; Breaking the Stigma nails its intent to glean understanding to truly destigmatize. So much insightful and helpful information. I found this as a personal interdisciplinary study into my own journey. I truly applaud the truths, the understandings and care taken to guide anyone through living, coping, loving, and knowing mental health challenges and personality neurodivergence. I hope each of our advocacy efforts are as clear, and insightful. I appreciated such thorough neurological, biological and psychology understandings of the human stress response and patterns of unconscious cycles. It was like a lightning charge how much this aligns with the current understandings and seeks new tolerance and acceptance in stride.

Historia
Millions of people in the United States are affected by mental illness every year. The COVID-19 pandemic not only caused new or aggravated symptoms in people, but further exposed the shortcomings of the American mental health system. Too many of us are confused, afraid, and overwhelmed. Families and friends are often left in the dark about how best to help their loved ones, how to deal with financial and logistical issues, and how to handle the emotional challenges of loving someone who is suffering. You Are Not Alone is here to offer help.

Recovery Renaissance
Revisado: 04-19-23
I cannot state how informative, powerful, credible and groundbreaking this open discussion about recovery is. I've been volunteering and partnering with NAMI for the last couple of years. This knowledge will help destigmatize the conversation and care for mental health. I bought three more copies for friends!

Historia
Enter our heroes. Dark Guardian chases off an angry drug dealer in Manhattan. Mr. Xtreme charges in and breaks up a San Diego bar brawl. T. O. Ronin hugs a homeless man on the snowy streets of Toronto. These aren't the big-screen or comic-book heroes that have been increasingly dominating pop culture. They're real-life superheroes: individuals who take on masked personae to fight crime and help the helpless. They don't have superpowers, but they do try to make the world a better place.

Heroism from History to the Heart
Revisado: 02-12-21
Absolutely enthralling as the conversation between altruism, bettering the world and eventually oneself bolsters. Creatively challenged my misconceptions and entertainingly educated about crime fighting, vigilantism and comic history. Beautifully researched, well rounded, and sincere. Team of individuals included and the writer in creating this book have chronicled a century of real life inception, activism, and inspiration of heroes! Can't miss if you've ever wondered about evolution of superhero virtue and voices' impact on culture and identity. Really discovered I was on the right track healing a harrowing world in need of developing inner heroism for change. In the spirit of hero culture.... sequel?
