Interesting that a plastic surgeon would be the one to figure out the keys to happiness and success in the mental realm.
Every book I've read about NLP and reprogramming the subconscious seems to have its roots in this book.
I hope Maltz's other books will be available on Audio Book here soon.

What's the Secret???
Revisado: 06-07-10
If "The Secret" of Jesus was explained in this book it was so diluted that nothing sticks in my mind as to what it may have been.
Just because the bible is long and cryptic doesn't mean that books about the bible should be.
In my quest to learn how to stop sinning I'm not sure that this book helped at all.
Very wordy and diluted.
Judging by my harsh review I'm guessing it didn't help me at all. :(

Rooted in the past, but right for today, the NRSV continues the tradition of William Tyndale, the King James Version, the American Standard Version, and the Revised Standard Version. Equally important, it sets a new standard for the 21st century. The NRSV stands out among the many translations because it is "as literal as possible" in adhering to the ancient texts and only "as free as necessary" to make the meaning clear in graceful, understandable English.

If you have spiritual antennae this is such a beautiful book.
Instead of killing people we are to be living sacrifices.
Instead of fighting wars we are to turn the other cheek.
Bless those who curse us.
Love Love Love.
And don't sin.

Historia
Through a panoramic overview of what the Bible says about suffering, the authors make clear who God is, why he permits so much heartache and pain, and how it is we can trust him. With both a practical edge and heartfelt warmth, When God Weeps offers dependence on his love and mercy in spite of our doubts, fears, longings, and questions.

What if Jesus doesn't heal you???
Revisado: 05-26-10
Gnarly book about what happens when Jesus wants you to not get better.
Ask and you shall receive???
Denied!
Asks a lot of tough questions about why God inflicts suffering on the world and church instead of healing us like when he walked the earth.
I guess we'll figure it out at the second coming.
I've listened to this book now at work about 5 times.
Excellent work.
Thought provoking.

"When people gladly sacrifice their time or comfort or home, it is obvious that they trust in the promises of God. Why is it that the story of someone who has actually done what Jesus commands resonates deeply with us, but we then assume we could never do anything so radical or intense? Or why do we call it radical when, to Jesus, it is simply the way it is? The way it should be?"

What if people actually did what Jesus said? What a concept.
Sell your fancy houses and cars and feed the poor.
This book rocks.
Instead of teaching people to try and be nice it teaches them to actually do what Jesus said.

Humans boiling in human feces eternally.

Good soundtrack to play on your front lawn during halloween.
Also the source of most of todays "Hell" teachings.

The Koran is not only one of the most influential books of prophetic literature but also a literary masterpiece in it’s own right. Universally accepted by Muslims to be the infallible Word of God as revealed to Mohammed by the Angel Gabriel nearly 1,400 years ago, the Koran still provides the rules of conduct fundamental to the Arab way of life.

I finally decided to read the Koran
Revisado: 05-26-10
I always hear on the news how it's a book about peace and love.
Not even close.
The Old Testament and Testament are Cryptic but point to a time when man will love one another and sin and tears will be done away with.
The Koran allows men to beat their wives (but not kill them because God is merciful) and chop of thieves hands and feet (but not kill them because God is merciful).
If that's what God is like then I was born in the wrong universe. This God is sadistic and cruel.

Hidden somewhere, in nearly every major city in the world, is an underground seduction lair. And in these lairs, men trade the most devastatingly effective techniques ever invented to charm women. This is not fiction. These men really exist. They live together in houses known as Projects. And Neil Strauss, the best-selling author, spent two years living among them, using the pseudonym Style to protect his real-life identity. The result is one of the most explosive and controversial books of the year.

Interesting how PUA's become so good at scamming and can't relate to women once they fall in love.
I'd never thought of that angle.
Highly recommend this to guys who are envious of rock stars and millionaires surrounded by models.

Sinners in the Hands of Angry God is considered the most famous sermon ever preached in American history. Jonathan Edwards delivered this message on July 8, 1741, in Enfield, Connecticut. Many who heard it trembled and cried out for mercy. Others fainted. Five hundred people were converted that day.

Too bad the word 'HELL' isn't even in the bible.
Revisado: 04-22-10
Hell Hell Hell Hell Hell. Only problem is Hell isn't in origianl scriptures. It was added by Catholics in the Latin Vulgate and mistranslated in the King James.
Gehenna, Hades, and Tartarus are the actual words translated "hell" in the King James version and none of them is an eternal place to torture souls.
And Deu 4:24 say that "God is the consuming fire".
So God is "hell" and as we draw near to him he burns off the flesh (Adamic nature) from us.
That's why it's dangerous to read the bible literally instead of spiritually.
Okay Mr. Edwards repeat after me:
God is Love.
God is Love.
God is Love.
God is Love.
God is Love.
God is Love.
Good lesson on how NOT to read the bible.
Makes God sound like Saddam Hussein except worse because he tortures people for EVER!
Yikes.
