Historia
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

Powerful but a little repetitive and wandering
Revisado: 01-03-25
This book was amazing and life changing. I just feel that most parts of the theory were overemphasized and explained to the point that the powerful idea of each chapter lost impact.

Historia
Princess describes the life of Princess Sultana Al Sa'ud, a princess in the royal house of Saudi Arabia. Hidden behind her black veil, she is a prisoner, jailed by her father, her husband, and her country. Sultana tells of appalling oppressions, everyday occurrences that in any other culture would be seen as shocking human rights violations: 13-year-old girls forced to marry men five times their age; young women killed by drowning, stoning, or isolation in the "women's room". Princess is a testimony to a woman of indomitable spirit and courage.

Disappointed
Revisado: 07-06-24
The storyline left much to be desired. There were no clues within the book as to who the killer might be until the end when it is all of a sudden revealed. I didn’t like that what should have been hinted at in the book all came out at the end. I honestly regret taking time to listen to this book.

Historia
Since September 11, 2001, the Western world has been preoccupied with Islam and its role in terrorism. Yet, public debate about the faith is polarized. One camp praises "the religion of peace", while the other claims all Muslims are terrorists. Canadian human rights activist Yasmine Mohammed believes both sides are dangerously wrong. In Unveiled: How Western Liberals Empower Radical Islam, Yasmine speaks her truth as a woman born in the Western world yet raised in a fundamentalist Islamic home. Despite being a first-generation Canadian, she never felt at home in the West.

I grew up with a very tolerant belief system. What this woman went through in her life was horrible. But what I heard is just pure anger that she wants to take out on Muslims. I understand wanting to spread awareness but this is not the way to do it.

Historia
In a haunting voice reminiscent of Sylvia Plath and the contemporary lyricism of David Levithan, Brynne Rebele-Henry weaves a powerful inversion of the Orpheus myth informed by the disturbing real-world truths of conversion therapy. Orpheus Girl is a story of dysfunctional families, trauma, first love, heartbreak, and ultimately, the fierce adolescent resilience that has the power to triumph over darkness and ignorance.

Horrible!
Revisado: 05-24-23
I really did not enjoy this book. The way it is written is very repetitive. It was like a person who makes your ear bleed but you can’t stop listening because they’re right there.
The plot is nothing intriguing or new. It is the less interesting than what you would see on a true crime show.
If you want to listen to a bratty teenager for hours this book is for you!
I regret buying and reading this book.

I think this book could be summed up in two chapters. It goes on and on and gets repetitive and boring in my opinion. The Secret is a much better book and I regret buying this one too. I will not purchase and other book from this author.

Historia
Today, Venezuela is a country of perpetual crisis—a country of rolling blackouts, nearly worthless currency, uncertain supply of water and food, and extreme poverty. In the same land where oil—the largest reserve in the world—sits so close to the surface that it bubbles from the ground, where gold and other mineral resources are abundant, and where the government spends billions of dollars on public works projects that go abandoned, the supermarket shelves are bare and the hospitals have no medicine.
