Historia
The Ministry for the Future is a masterpiece of the imagination, using fictional eyewitness accounts to tell the story of how climate change will affect us all. Its setting is not a desolate, post-apocalyptic world, but a future that is almost upon us - and in which we might just overcome the extraordinary challenges we face.

Historia
Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

The author loves to listen to himself
Revisado: 06-10-24
Yes, men are bad, white men especially, women are oppressed, and women of color most of all. This probably explains at least some of the 5 star reviews.
But really, the story would be innovative and interesting if it was not drowned in a diarrhea of words. Imagine Stephen King but without the talent.

Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Revisado: 12-07-23
It feels like a clone of many other books I read. There is very little originality, I don't understand the hype about the book. It is difficult to read.

Historia
Marra never wanted to be a hero. As the shy, convent-raised, third-born daughter, she escaped the traditional fate of princesses, to be married away for the sake of an uncaring throne. But her sister wasn’t so fortunate—and after years of silence, Marra is done watching her suffer at the hands of a powerful and abusive prince. Seeking help for her rescue mission, Marra is offered the tools she needs, but only if she can complete three seemingly impossible tasks:

Historia
Have you heard that language is violence and that science is sexist? Have you read that certain people shouldn't practice yoga? Or been told that being obese is healthy, that there is no such thing as biological sex, or that only White people can be racist? Are you confused by these ideas, and do you wonder how they have managed to challenge the logic of Western society? In this probing volume, Helen Pluckrose and James Lindsay document the evolution of the dogma that informs these ideas, from its coarse origins in French postmodernism to its refinement within activist academic fields.

I would probably loved the book as teenager
Revisado: 06-27-23
The story is full of plot holes and lacks seriousness and adult nuances - I would probably loved the book as teenager, but as adult I find it superficial.
The narration completely ignores the fact that the storytelling perspective constantly shifts between two main characters. Maybe it is less confusing in a physical book but as audiobook it is very confusing.

Historia
God is change. That is the central truth of the Earthseed movement, whose unlikely prophet is 18-year-old Lauren Olamina. The young woman's diary entries tell the story of her life amid a violent 21st-century hell of walled neighborhoods and drug-crazed pyromaniacs - and reveal her evolving Earthseed philosophy. Against a backdrop of horror emerges a message of hope: if we are willing to embrace divine change, we will survive to fulfill our destiny among the stars.

All women without an exception are good, because they are women and Black people are also generally good, because they are not white. Other than that, the story is refreshing and interesting.

Historia
Environmental devastation and economic chaos have turned America into a land of horrifying depravity. Assault, theft, sexual abuse, slavery, and murder are commonplace. And a zealous, bigoted tyrant has won his way into the White House. Directly opposed is Lauren Olamina, founder of Earthseed - a new faith that teaches "God Is Change". Persecuted for "heathen" beliefs as much as for having a Black female leader, Earthseed's followers face a life-and-death struggle to preserve their vision.

Misophonia warning - worst narrator ever
Revisado: 06-07-23
Patricia R. Floyd is chewing on nuts or has a lollipop in her mouth while reading the book. I am unable to finish the book. Moreover the story is nowhere nearly as good as the first book. All women are good, most men are pedophiles and slavers, Blacks good - whites bad, etc.
