Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Fairy-tale genius octopus, not-so-bright humans
Revisado: 06-30-24
It’s a very sweet story but undermined by a lack of believability in the two main characters. 70-year-old Toba comes across more like a 90-year-old and 30-year-old Brandon, for all his purported intelligence, comes across as a half idiot most of the time. Meanwhile, the octopus runs circles around everybody. The octopus is as loyal and selflessly courageous as a stereotypical minority “buddy“ in a 1980s Hollywood action flick. I wanted to like the book but the characters were not that engaging and octopus was too good to be true.

The Best of a Texas Maverick
Revisado: 09-06-23
Perfect for anyone who loves Texas, Dobie represents the state at its best. His stories are priceless and many are based on his own personal experiences/adventures. Lots of great natural history here along with the wonderful stories. The narration by noted radio personality WF Strong is the perfect match for Dobie's voice.
