Historia
When the asteroid hits and the world falls apart, I'm seventeen, and my dad buys us a place in an underground bunker. We're supposed to be safe down there, but we're not. Gradually, I lose everything until all I have left is a bewildering relationship with a stoic, unknowable man. As one of the guards in the bunker, Grant has lurked in the background of my life for years, teaching me to defend myself, making sure I'm safe, and infuriating me by treating me like a sheltered princess in a tower. I don't even know if he likes me, even after we end up in bed together.

Story and Narration excellent!
Revisado: 01-24-25
Love the series and this story was excellent. Perfect angst and heat and genuine character chemistry- which is hard with two very reserved characters. Narrator does a fantastic job- doesn’t just read but acts it out as she reads. It can make or break an audiobook, and her skills really added to it.

Tra-la-la-la-la straight off a cliff
Revisado: 01-23-25
I think this was trying to be a very condensed version of the “Bronze Horseman” books (my absolute favorite), with almost the same ‘hiding in plain site’ romance build up, with recycled themes and prose and under tones, but didn’t land nearly as well. It was an epic build up (I’ll give it that) to a then mechanically contrived and ungraceful nose dive off a cliff. I laughed- actually laughed- because of course, two characters developed and written with sense would be so senseless and uncharacteristically dense. So i half listened and rolled my eyes then increased speed to 2.0 just to have suspicions confirmed. And for such a long book the big crescendo, and then ultimate sew up seemed rushed and felt more like just a shrug of the shoulders and a “good enough”. I don’t buy it, even for nonfiction characters, especially because the author did such a thorough job introducing and then making sure we knew these characters so well. So I’m sorry but there is no way Finn just fell back in and went on “tra- la- la- la -la”. Im not even sad because i just feel like real human emotions and behaviors, as well as the character molds themselves, were all just chucked out the window to get a certain outcome. I lost my bond with the characters in the final few chapters because of it. Will archive this title and forget it.

Good story but FMC is a beyond annoying!
Revisado: 01-06-25
Ok i really like this story so I’m not knocking off stars and feel for the FMC even though her back story isn’t all that terrible (compared to most)….but she is beyond petulant and annoying. For example, she restates everything anyone says, but in a very dumbed down way- like either she is an idiot that doesn’t understand the concept of ‘figures of speech’ or she is an insufferable know -it-all (or the author was trying to meet a word quota). And she is so contrary that i find i have to stop and allow my blood pressure to settle every time she opens her mouth . It’s to the point that i don’t know how they haven’t tapped her mouth shut (she adds nothing to the story by speaking- seriously!! All she does is ask stupid questions and act obtuse and difficult). This book would be half as long if she would just shut up and listen once in a while and use her actual brains (not sure she has much there) . After the first book i thought she might snap out of it but now it’s clear she is really just that Annoying! Here is to hoping she shows a little humility and self-awareness…oh and masters intelligent conversation going forward! Fingers crossed.

Historia
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

The first chance she had to ask an intelligent question and she asked about the size of his ****. Are you kidding me??
Revisado: 12-30-24
Warning- this is a rant- justified imo but still a rant- Typical snarky, condescending, ignorant, ill-mannered caustic FMC. In any world or alt universe these females are $^#+!’s. Sick of being told thats what a strong witty independent female is, and the only way to rise above. Imagine anyone, male or female, running around insulting everyone, jumping to ignorant conclusions about everyone and everything, and using fists over brains 90% of the time and then having the audacity to demand respect in return!?! There is no universe where that kind of behavior is valued or tolerated! (But Aelin/Celaena did it ToG- so somehow that became the standard and format that everyone else follows for their FMC.) Reality is thats the behavior of a villain, not a hero. Thats what the first several hours (thats as far as I’ll go…so sick of this type of “strong female”) was- listening to her trash talk and baulk and demand to wear dirty pants(eye roll) rather then put a dress on at dinner (I’m insulted on behalf of the servants that take pride in preparing the meal, setting the table, cleaning her room and laying out clothes for her to just disregard based on on her high and mighty principles). And first opportunity she had to ask an intelligent question she asked about the size of his di*k. Thats not charming or witty- that’s trashy!!! She is ugly on the inside. Plenty of people rise above adversity using actual brains and acting with some grace, humility, skills and strength other than ripping down everyone around them and acting immoral and crude just for the sake of being “tough”. Wouldn’t want to be her friend. Being crude and brash is not funny or witty if you cant balance it with humility and grace and actual wit. And put a dress on and show some respect to the people who serve you!!!

Just a filler
Revisado: 12-17-24
This really didn’t have anything that made this feel like its own book- simple an extension of the first which made it just a boring bridge to the third. Lots of playing house, easy vanilla romance (a little angst and steam is nice and appreciated in a romance…. Anyone else agree!? Remember Keegan from Dragon Heart series??!! Yep, me too— swoon!), and same ghostly encounters as first. The Scooby Gang is no where near better or worse than they were at the end of the first book. Yawn. Let me know when the third book gets released, but I’m far less excited and i’ll get to it when i get to it. And just throwing this out there…Maybe Nora should kill off Trey, or have him meet someone that he’s actually excited about and not just- “meh…she’ll do”, and then have Keegan walk through that mirror- Sonya could use a man with a sword anyway!! Now that would be interesting!!

Sad and then DULL and Creepy main female. DNF
Revisado: 11-17-24
Main female character is hanging around teenaged boys baseball practices!?!? She reads like a weird sociopath and is presumptuous and pushy. Plus what is it with all NR characters being basic, vanilla with zero sense of humor and super easy (it’s just sex- let’s just give it away!). Anyone else!? Zero romance in this book - like so many other NR books. Two adults that just happen to be in the right place at the right time and so they hook up and then settle for each other because its so easy and safe and boring- thats what it feels like. And the hours spent listening to how grungy she is while she plays in the dirt. Yawn. Im not going to hang around to see how this one plays out. DNF. Narrator was good- but couldn’t get past the words coming out of her mouth (not her fault).

Historia
Paullina Simons's internationally bestselling blockbuster The Bronze Horseman told the heart-soaring tale of a young Russian woman's transcendent love affair with a Red Army soldier during the siege of Leningrad in the dark days of World War Two. The epic story continues in Tatiana and Alexander—a novel of the enduring power of love and commitment against the devastating forces of war and the equally dangerous forces of keeping the peace. A sweeping, intensely compelling romantic historical saga, Tatiana and Alexander is a Russian Thorn Birds and a truly unforgettable listening experience.

When a supporting character almost ruins it
Revisado: 09-20-24
Vicky is scum of the earth- heartless and selfish. Maybe she cares about T in her own way, but she’s toxic. Nails on a chalkboard every time her character opens her mouth. Why oh why did we have to be subjected to her- didn’t we suffer enough following our A &T on this journey? Still over all very good.

Dull. I’m done but still waiting for the story to start….
Revisado: 08-09-24
I went in with a very open, eager mind. Hoping for a PG rated magical tale filled with quality characters, some teasing wisps of romance, all centered around a great story….well, I’m done with this book and Im left wondering how I was tricked so badly. I just don’t understand all the good reviews. This was so boring and…anticlimactic. Wasn’t even swept away with overly descriptive prose drawing the story out. It was just a lot of shallow, meandering steps on a plateau toward an ending. There was no richness to the story, and no deep character development, or romance really to speak of- Zero passion- more like how i imagine two people in an awkward arranged marriage might get on making the best of things…. It was all very flat. I really don’t know how else to describe it. Very disappointed.

Inappropriate Bakery Sidewalk PDA - Apparently thats my line in the sand!!!
Revisado: 07-02-24
Poor Narrators having to try multiple Boston accents…..what a disaster. But they did the best they could. Not their fault but still made it hard to listen to Also the writing is sooooo cringy. I don’t mind kink or smut or psychopaths playing the MMC or FMC being stupid or desperate or immature….i mean my standards for these books are very low…but after the FMC stuck her tongue down the MMC throat in public…while standing next to her friend… in front of a bakery… hoping to get scones….in broad daylight … just after he bumped into her and asked her for a second date….it was where i drew my line in the sand. l will never be ok with trashy PDA- even in fiction. I lost all respect for her. No class or tact. Shes Gross- hard pass!

Revisado: 06-23-24
FMC became a bit redundant in her stupidity and self deprecation, and trying to be so selfless she actually became self obsessed and narcissistic. Me me me…. I I I….But….ultimately her heart was in the right place so she was somewhat redeemed. Otherwise very good story and i loved the authentic accent of the narrator. She did an excellent job!!!!
