Who wrote this trash?
Revisado: 01-01-25
I am a very big fan of Thomas Perry. His Butcher's Boy and Jane Whitefield series are two of my favorite. Exceptionally well written and the performances have been outstanding.
I don't know if someone was impersonating Thomas Perry or if he went on a drunken bender and hammered this drivel out when he was in recovery or just mailed it in from vacation spot to an editor who never read through it and never bothered to listen to it.
This thing was so bad it was giving me a headache and I wanted to smash things in the room around me. Midway through the book I decided to go to 2x speed to see if I could get through it. Unfortunately at about 70% of the way through even at double the speed I didn't care anything about any of the characters and I didn't care to finish it. I had to rip the earbuds out of my skull so that I could return to sanity. It was really that god-awful. Let's not forget to mention how annoying this narrator was at least in this performance.

Historia
From Atlanta's wealthiest suburbs to its stark inner-city housing projects, a killer has crossed the boundaries of wealth and race. And the people who are chasing him must cross those boundaries, too. Among them is Michael Ormewood, a veteran detective whose marriage is hanging by a thread and whose arrogance and explosive temper are threatening his career. And Angie Polaski, a beautiful vice cop who was once Michael's lover before she became his enemy.

A good start to the series, but...
Revisado: 08-16-24
To me, audiobooks are about 60% story, 40% narrator. Michael Kramer did a great performance and I am disappointed they switched to a female narrator for the rest of the series. I started listening to the next book and couldn't make it through the first 20 minutes.
I hope they didn't let Michael Kramer go because he couldn't pronounce DeKalb County. I know that is a small thing but he said it at least 100 times so it was cringe.

Historia
After his son is convicted of capital murder, Vietnam War veteran Jeremiah Fitzjurls takes over the care of his granddaughter, Joanna, raising her with as much warmth as can be found in an Ozark junkyard outfitted to be an armory. He teaches her how to shoot and fight, but there is not enough training in the world to protect her when the dreaded Ledfords, notorious meth dealers and fanatical white supremacists, come to collect on Joanna as payment for a long-overdue blood debt.

Struggle to make it through
Revisado: 11-30-23
Very very slow moving. Excruciatingly slow. Not much of anything happens, and I couldn’t care less about any of the characters.
Others will enjoy it apparently, but it is just not for me. Sorry.

Historia
Defense attorney Mickey Haller is back, taking the long shot cases, where the chances of winning are one in a million. He agrees to represent a woman in prison for killing her husband, a sheriff’s deputy. Despite her conviction four years earlier, she still maintains her innocence. Haller enlists his half brother, retired LAPD Detective Harry Bosch, as investigator. Reviewing the case, Bosch sees something that doesn’t add up, and a sheriff’s department intent on bringing a quick search for justice in the killing of one of its own.

A perfect trio of Haller, Bosch & Ballard!
Revisado: 11-08-23
Really don't get why the negative reviews on narration. Haller, played by Peter Giles is spot on. Giles has narrated all but one of the Lincoln Lawyer books so I imagine the negative feedback is from rookies to the series. Titus Welliver is brilliant as Bosch; so much so that he plays Bosch in the Amazon Prime series; a natural progression from narrating a third of the Bosch titles. And I believe that Christine Lakin has been the only narrator of Renée Ballard. The specifics on the narration feedback doesn't resonate with me. I don't know what they were listening to.
I appreciate the more pensive Bosch in Resurrection Walk as well as the more seasoned Mickey Holler. Michael Connelly has been a master of the police procedural and now is being recognized for his work on Lincoln Lawyer. This is a masterfully crafted novel that is deeply satisfying. It was worth the wait.

Historia
The "Big Three" are a trio of inmates locked up in the Minnesota Security Hospital over the years, each a particularly vicious serial killer, each with his own distinct style and propensities. Everybody feels much safer knowing that they're behind bars. Except...there's a new killer on the loose. And his handiwork bears a disturbing resemblance to some of the finer points practiced by the Big Three, details that never even made the papers.

Revisado: 11-07-23
Great story and narration. There is a bit of a flaw in my opinion, which is that the Top 100 greatest rock ‘n’ roll song list has about 50 of the greatest. I disqualify the other half.

Just another reminder of how great an author Harlan Coben is. Such depth in the lead character, and an especially enjoyable banter between two FBI agents sprinkled throughout the story.

Revisado: 11-14-22
I have read all of the Bosch books, watched all of the TV production and listened to all the audiobooks. Michael Connelly saved the best Bosch for last! (Well, it’s probably the last)
