Historia
Let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. These ominous words, slashed from the pages of a book of Psalms, are the last threat that the darling of London society, Sir Edward Grey, receives from his killer. Before he can show them to Nicholas Brisbane, the private inquiry agent he has retained for his protection, Sir Edward collapses and dies at his London home, in the presence of his wife, Julia, and a roomful of dinner guests.

World's worst dialects!!
Revisado: 06-22-16
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Narrator or have her STOP trying to do British accents
What did you like best about this story?
Campy, relaxing
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Her ATTEMPTS at British accents are incredibly BAD. The worst being a male Scottish
character. I was born and grew up in the U.K Scotland to be precise. I am USED to the
futile attempts to copy the dialects/accents. This Narrator should consider sticking to her own accent and just read the book.
Her indescribable attempts at these dialects distract from the story.
What would have made this romance irresistible?
The victorian setting and the mystery. Romance just did not come off very well. Too many stereotypes.
Any additional comments?
It's a cosy book for a rainy day when you are cooking soup and you can tolerate the attempts at British dialects.

Love letter from a fan
Revisado: 01-09-16
What disappointed you about Maggie Smith?
Nothing about Maggie Smith disappointed me. She never fails to be a wonderful performer.
What could Michael Coveney have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Drool less!! this is a book full of adulation from a lovesick fan. I got no sense of the real person behind "Maggie Smith"
What three words best describe Sian Thomas’s voice?
Standard Broadcast English.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment, I wanted to know more about the human being rather than a detailed review of her career.
Any additional comments?
This author obviously idolizes Maggie Smith. However, she is a human being, complex and more than a brilliant actress

A disappointed fan
Revisado: 01-09-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, too reminiscent of the British Class System
Which scene was your favorite?
Nothing stands out
Any additional comments?
I am a great fan of Judy Dench. I will watch any film in which she is involved in. She is a great actress. This book is snippets of the "right people" I was born and grew up in Great Britain. One of the reasons I left was the class system in which you are condemned to remain at the social level of your parents. You get the correct accent, go to the "right" schools interact with the "right" people and so forth. Judy is probably a lovely person who had all of those advantagesI wanted to gain an understanding or feeling for the "real" Judy Dench. I wish I had. If you want little "giggles" from the upper class this is the book for you.

One cold spring morning in County Cork, two fishermen find a bundle of rags floating in the Blackwater River. It is the bloated body of Father Heaney. His hands and feet are bound, and his neck bears the marks of garrotting wire. Worse still, he has been castrated. When a second priest is found murdered, his body bruised and beaten and the same savage wound hidden beneath his soutane, Detective Inspector Katie Maguire finds evidence of a sinister cover-up at St Joseph's Orphanage.

Porn and violence again!.
Revisado: 01-02-16
What would have made Broken Angels: Kate Maguire Book 2 better?
TONE DOWN the torture scenes and the sexual scenes, I don't need to share the feelings of a a vulnerable young woman being slowly and horribly tortured in minute detail. The sexual scenes are almost clinical certainly NOT sensual or romantic
What other book might you compare Broken Angels: Kate Maguire Book 2 to and why?
I would have to look under the S and M category.
Which character – as performed by Caroline Lennon – was your favorite?
Kate Magiore
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It is well written with clearly defined characters. Good background and without the S&M
a good book.
Any additional comments?
I bought the first book in this series and was so impressed by the strong writing and characters that I bought the second "Broken Angels" I did this in the belief that such a good author would not make the same mistakes twice. I was wrong.
I am returning the second one, first bad choice was mine, the second bad choice is Audible's

Historia
On an isolated farm in southern Ireland, a decades-old grave houses the dismembered bones of 11 women. Detective Superintendent Katie Maguire of the Irish Gardai is used to bloodshed, but these white bones speak of unimaginable butchery. Not far away, a young American tourist is at the mercy of a sadistic killer. His tools are a boning knife, twine, and a doll fashioned from rags, nails, and fish-hooks. The murder of his victims is secondary only to his pleasure at their pain.

Could be great book instead of great disapointment
Revisado: 12-27-15
What disappointed you about White Bones?
Sexual scenes and scenes of torture.are GRAPHIC. The sexual scenes are so detailed that that they could be used in an OBGYN text book. I needed a shower after reading one chapter. The scenes of torture including details of being skinned alive and legs amputated
in minute detail are stomach turning.
.I found myself skipping chapters. This is a well written book take out the scenes of torture and sadism I would be hooked if it turned into a series. Believe me I am NOT easily offended, I am not squeamish, sex, when its part of the story is just great. Torture in detail is another story. You need a strong stomach, not prone to nightmares and enjoy porn to enjoy this book
What other book might you compare White Bones to and why?
Broken Angels by same author.
What does Caroline Lennon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Excellent pronunciation of the Irish language. Caroline is great.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Anger and disappointment. Terrible ending great story, ruined by unnecessary scenes of sadism, crudity and violence
Any additional comments?
Dont buy this book if you are easily unnerved.

BEWARE! ADDICTIVE SERIES
Revisado: 06-28-15
What did you love best about A Test of Wills?
Another tim, anothr place. This whole series has the gentle aura of history while most cunning criminals lurk at every bend. Campy, fun and very addictive.
What other book might you compare A Test of Wills to and why?
Deborah Crombie and her Gemma series.
Which scene was your favorite?
The arrival of Hamish. Long dead and yet a charactr in his own right.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, snuggle up ,relax and enjoy
Any additional comments?
You can't listen just one, They do reek of the old an unmourned "class system" but
one can overlook that in enjoy an Agatha Christie world of campy crime.
