Girl leaves guy because he is a crackhead and she is prego but knows he can't provide. Guy KILLS girls grandmother because of his actions from stealing drugs. Girl lets him see the baby and converses with him at the end because he is "sorry".

I say unrealistic because these demons immediately attack in hoards except when it comes to Jack's family. Even if BABA had wanted to kill them slowly it would not have taken hours. Also Jack performs what is similar to a sanctifying ritual even though he has no knowledge of how to do it and was never a devoutly religious man.
