Different yet the same
Revisado: 04-23-25
Narration was good.
I’m guessing the goal for each author was to create a short story involving vampires and sex as that’s what each story was about. They were all live stories, they were each different but similar with the similar themes so it felt more like listening to the story but being told a bit differently each time. Although I will give kudos to the story with the locked up vamp virgin, that was different enough (and good) to be a stand alone.

Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

Narrator does a great job - really brings the story to life!
The author writes well and has created a unique story that while lacking action is constantly intriguing making you want to keep listening to see what happens next.

One corpse. Several bizarre looking attackers. Some very strange magical powers. And a severe bout of amnesia. Madrona is not having a great week. It's going to be okay, though. All she has to do is find out who she really is, protect a soap star from being attacked by a stalker, and work out why so many people seem so afraid of her. Because surely she's a good person. Right?

Different, still making up my mind to continue
Revisado: 03-11-25
The narrator does a great job - she speaks well, her accent isn’t so deep u can have difficulty understanding her, she differentiates her voices enough to tell who is speaking without them all sounding alike and she knows how and where to punctuate.
The story is different enough that I’d probably like it better if the main character had more interactions at times. Sometimes it gets boring being just her but only sometimes. It took a long time to for this story to get good enough that I wanted to keep listening. The author gets you interested at the very beginning then there’s some dull stuff and too much focus on the main and not enough interactions with others that I stopped listening and listened to another book then came back to this one.
I’ll probably finish this series, just not right now (which is unlike me). I think it was a bit too silly for me in the beginning thinking she was a super hero and not just buying but wearing a cape and tights and going around telling people she’s a super hero.

There are three absolutes in Mairi Wallace's world: 1. The Mages rule every city in Scotland with terrible, violent authority. 2. It is not physically possible for any woman to wield magic. 3. Mairi does not have a voice. She is about to learn that none of these things have to be true. From twisted wynds and tartan shops to a dangerous daemon and malevolent ravens, the future of a tattered nation might lie with one solitary woman.

Good narrator, story is a bit angry
Revisado: 03-07-25
I’ve liked some of this authors other stories but this one isn’t quite there for me.
It’s an interesting concept but there’s too much obsession and way too much anger from the main character for my liking.
The narrator does a good job but her accent is so strong that at times I’ve had difficulty understanding what she is saying.

Beginner writer?
Revisado: 03-06-25
The narrator does a good job, not a great job, but at least she’s good and not awful.
I didn’t bother looking to see if the author is a new writer or not - based upon the writing in the book I am assuming so.
The whole book has nothing going on it that makes me want to know more and in fact I’ve had to force myself to listen beyond the one hour mark. Since other reviews were so good I kept thinking the book must get better, I’m 3/4ths of the way through (3hrs left) and it doesn’t so I’m done with it.
The characters are not strong or unique or stand out in any way. In fact, the writing is such that I don’t care at all about any of the characters! There are none I want to root for, none I want to yell at, none that I care about in any way. I want a villain or a good guy or at least to hope that someone overcomes a challenge. Just give me any sort of feeling towards these characters other than indifference please!
It’s not that the book or the writing is bad, it’s too neutral and in my book that means not good.
I will be returning this one.

Being the twin of a movie star isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Eva is glamorous, sweet, and everything I’m not. Believe me, every person in my life has made that crystal clear. The press calls me the Ice Queen, leaving pack after pack broken in my wake. I wish it were true. All I’ve ever wanted was a pack—to be loved and cherished the way an Omega was meant to be—but now I’ve given up hope. Every group I meet wants a copy of my sister. Let’s not even mention the ones who called me by her name.

Boring & Too focused on 1 thing
Revisado: 03-03-25
The narrators do a good job which is always a plus.
The author writes well but the story is bland. The two main characters (twins) are interesting but everyone else is so bland, uncolorful & boring that I not only don’t know who is who but quite frankly I could care less!
The entire story focuses on 1 main character finding a pack and her anxiety when she does. I’m so bored with this very uninteresting story that I’ve listened to chapters over and over and still either don’t know what’s going on because I keep tuning out or when I do know that I simply don’t care. I think 4 1/2 hrs is chance enough for the story to get better and / or the characters to become interesting or somewhat colorful. Definitely returning.

Leaving my husband was hard. Trying to face the world alone with my teenage daughter is the sort of thing nightmares are made of, but I caught a break. My best friend just hired me for a great job, with perks like a rent-free house right beside not just one handsome man, but five! Each one is hotter than the last, and all of them seem interested in me. But everyone around us has these strange golden eyes...and there are the questions no one will answer. And who cares if there's a lot of wildlife running around at night? I do, especially when a wolf keeps sneaking into my backyard.

Half the storyline is great! Good Narrators!
Revisado: 02-21-25
This is a reverse harem story where the author decides to carry it a bit far by having 5 men to 1 women. While this at first seems like some serious woman power the problem is now there are 5 different men with the same thoughts: "Does she love me?", "Do I love her", "How can I protect her"? When these same thoughts are repeated among 5 different men non-stop throughout the story it becomes more than repetitive, it's flat out annoying. So half the book is this women having the same thoughts about each man, and 5 different men having the same thoughts about this woman, thus half the story in each book is all of these people non-stop questioning themselves about the exact same thing and non-stop reassurances needed. It's really too bad because the author developed likeable characters and a good storyline that I'd like to know more about but at this point you couldn't pay me to reread (re-listen) to all of this crap again. 5 on 1 is too much, is does not make for a good story.
I did love the women's group "I'm too old for this shit". Awesome.

I finally did it. I took that last step, and it was everything I wanted. My relationship with my five mates has never been better. They've embraced not only me as a part of their lives but also my daughter, and this feels like the family I always dreamed of. I don't mean just myself and my mates, but the entire pack. They call me "Alpha". No, I'm not the alpha, but I'm learning how to step up. I got this. I'd better, since Wolf's Run has thrown open our doors to more than just wolves, but it seems like my version of winging it is working for all of us.

Great story half the time
Revisado: 02-21-25
The narrators did a pretty good job, not fantastic, they lacked excitement in their words and were a bit monotone at times.
I’m loving the storyline, at least half of it.
There isn’t as much sex as the 2nd book or as in most reverse harems but too much due to the number of mates so besides the group sex there are all the individual sex scenes.
My biggest complaints are too much sex which takes away from a pretty great storyline, too much repetition (especially with the non-stop reassurance each mate is consistently doing) and displaying each dominant wolf as very insecure.

Good story & narration
Revisado: 02-05-25
Finally a series that shows character growth for the main characters! Haven’t seen that in awhile.
Narrator does a good job, would have like to see her a bit more animated in some areas though.
Good story, mostly like the characters, main character fights with herself over her identity and it shows by being quite the ungrateful, hypocritical, overly critical biiiiitch at times and that was disappointing but also a tiny bit okay as who wants a perfect main character?
Glad I got the whole series at once although there are too many times that the story or a character went on and on about boring stuff the story could do without. Because of this I recommend to some friends who only read books in lieu of listening to them that they should look for an abridged version (which 99% of the time I get the unabridged so that tells you something).
