Historia
There's a reason We Are Legion was named Audible's Best Science Fiction Book of 2016: Its irresistibly irreverent wit! Bob Johansson has just sold his software company for a small fortune and is looking forward to a life of leisure. The first item on his to-do list: Spending his newfound windfall. On an urge to splurge, he signs up to have his head cryogenically preserved in case of death. Then he gets himself killed crossing the street. Waking up 117 years later, Bob discovers his mind has been uploaded into a sentient space probe with the ability to replicate itself.

Great, great, and incredible
Revisado: 12-15-24
Need I say more? Mind the intro of the story, that’s the only imperfection. The dialogue of the characters in the first chapter. It improves drastically, almost immediately, and never falters again.

Historia
God is change. That is the central truth of the Earthseed movement, whose unlikely prophet is 18-year-old Lauren Olamina. The young woman's diary entries tell the story of her life amid a violent 21st-century hell of walled neighborhoods and drug-crazed pyromaniacs - and reveal her evolving Earthseed philosophy. Against a backdrop of horror emerges a message of hope: if we are willing to embrace divine change, we will survive to fulfill our destiny among the stars.

Keeps you engaged the whole time. Calling it a “touching adventure” doesn’t do it justice
Revisado: 09-22-24
Great read/listen! Solid story pace, relaxing narration, and a touch too real. In a great way. The messages are so strong because they feel simple. Butler manages to make you reflect, simultaneously evoking gratitude and regret about current state of affairs: abundance, inequity and labor laws.

Historia
A college grad with the six-figure debt to prove it, Ethan Block views San Francisco as the place to be. Yet his job at hot new dating app DateDate is a far cry from what he envisioned. Instead of making the world a better place, he reviews flagged photo queues, overworked and stressed out. But that's about to change. Reeling from a breakup, Ethan decides to view his algorithmically matched soulmate on DateDate. He overrides the system and clicks on the profile. Then, he disappears. One minute, he’s in a windowless office, and the next, he’s in a field of grass, gasping for air.

The voice. The romantic prospect. The hidden agenda
Revisado: 08-21-24
Spoiler alert: I didn’t like that it was ultimately a simple, sad, love story. One could argue it’s a good thing when you don’t realize you’re reading a tragedy until the end, but something about the set up felt so… evitable.

Incredible stories! Near monotone narration
Revisado: 12-29-23
Disclaimer: I only listened to the first three stories.
H.G. wells writes an incredibly compelling set of short stories. Unexpected twists, slow build ups, fast punches. The use of context and open observations reels you in and keeps you engaged right up to the end of each short story. The writer’s tone is perfectly suspenseful and amused.
However, the narration makes me feel like I’m reading a dictionary. There could be more pauses, changes in pace, variation in tone as well as volume. All things which could be fixed. I wish the narrator saw this and volunteered to try again, because the short stories are so good that they deserve to be brought to life in Spanish.
