Double Trouble Murder
Revisado: 03-20-16
What made the experience of listening to Good, Clean, Murder the most enjoyable?
Moves along fast and holds ones interest.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Quit the biting of the lip. Not only is Jane constantly biting her lip or her inside cheek, others do the same. Make Jane have a little more backbone. Jane mistakes being a doormat as being a Christian.
What about Rebecca Roberts’s performance did you like?
Rebecca Robert's did a really good job narrating. She has a nice voice and makes the story more interesting. I really like Roberts style.
If you could rename Good, Clean, Murder, what would you call it?
I really don't know what else to call it. The title is quirky and ok as it is.
Any additional comments?
Too many references to missionary or church things that are abbreviated without explaining the meaning of them. Jane is a bit of a drip. She sure is not ready for any kind of missionary work. It is a Christian mystery but could be better presented. I felt like the Bible and Christian references were more fillers than true Christian content.

A Classic and Beloved Favorite of Millions
Revisado: 03-11-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Don't have to recommend A Little Princess, don't know anyone that isn't familiar with the story. Even men have heard of it or even read it themselves.
What other book might you compare A Little Princess to and why?
I really don't know. I generally don't compare things like this. It's only when a theme has been overworked so much that I can't help but notice a comparison.
What about Jennifer M Dixon’s performance did you like?
Jennifer Dixon did such a lovely reading of this classic tale. She brought so much feeling and meaning into the characters. Totally charming.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, it was a book to listen to for awhile and then sit back and ponder on the words of wisdom and twists of fate.
Any additional comments?
I noticed on some other sites some complaints about it being racist, to much talk about Indians, etc etc. Frankly the pc police just need to stay in reality and not look for a boogieman everywhere. Of course there was a lot about India, Sara Crewe grew up in India, yes she had servants, nothing racist about that they weren't enslaved. Just loved the book and the movie does not stay faithful to the book, but loved the movie too.

Historia
Long before his finest hour as Britain's wartime leader, Winston Churchill emerged on the world stage as a brazen foreign correspondent, covering wars of empire in Cuba, India, the Sudan, and South Africa. In those far-flung corners of the world, reporting from the front lines between 1895 and 1900, Churchill mastered his celebrated command of language and formed strong opinions about war.

An Icon in the Making
Revisado: 03-02-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely, especially anyone interested in history and WW2. It is a spectacular look into Churchill's inner mind and what life events shaped his destiny.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Winston Churchill Reporting?
In a book like this, there are many memorable moments as well as eye opening events. For just one moment in time I'd say when Churchill has an epiphany of what war really is about when surrounded by the dead and dying on the battlefield. War is cruel, bloody and painful. It gave him a basis in reality when he had to send in troops during WW2.
What about Simon Vance’s performance did you like?
OMG Simon Vance is a jewel in the crown of narrators. His performances are always in the super star category.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, it was very hard to hit pause. But then one must sleep and eat. It is worth listening to more than once. I myself have listened to it twice. No doubt will listen many more times.
Any additional comments?
An excellent peek into the mind of a powerful man at a time when his fate was being shaped.

Historia
When Betty MacDonald married a marine and moved to a small chicken farm on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, she was largely unprepared for the rigors of life in the wild. With no running water, no electricity, a house in need of constant repair, and days that ran from four in the morning to nine at night, the MacDonalds had barely a moment to put their feet up and relax. And then came the children. Yet through every trial and pitfall - through chaos and catastrophe - this indomitable family somehow, mercifully, never lost its sense of humor.

The Hens Revenge
Revisado: 03-02-16
Would you consider the audio edition of The Egg and I to be better than the print version?
sure no two ways about it. Audio with a fabulous narrator is far more robust than reading a book.
Have you listened to any of Heather Henderson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Heather Henderson has a gentle and refined voice. I have listened to some of her other Audio narrations. and she lends a certain something to each book that is special, always she is in tune with the authors intent and true to the characters in the story,
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Can't exactly say anything moved me because what did make an impact and not in a good way was when Bob, was so unfeeling and callous when the horse was standing on her foot and she was in real pain. The lout only was annoyed that the work was being slowed down and stopped.
Any additional comments?
The Egg and I was written during a very different mindset in history than today so no one should judge Betty for what was normal in 1945.
It was not far into the story that I really disliked Bob and could foresee that things were not going to work out in the long term for them as a couple. I had a sense he was marrying her for money and a workhorse. He was just mean and selfish. Aside from that he was way to old for Betty and she was to young and innocent for such a clod.

Romance Wins Again
Revisado: 03-01-16
Where does Saving Grace rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Somewhere around the middle. It's a cute romance story that is much better than most romance books. It was going good till they did the deed. Grace had a code of ethics that she tried to live by and was a good role model.
What other book might you compare Saving Grace to and why?
I don't read/listen to many romance stories so can't really compare to any other in this genre. So for me it stands alone as a fun and laugh out loud story.
Which scene was your favorite?
Has to be when Grace rescues Coco with a well placed knee to the would be rapists nether region. It was really funny and she is so cool and steady.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Might have wanted to but it's not realistic to have the time to listen all in one go.
Any additional comments?
I really liked Saving Grace, she had spunk, she thought things through before acting or speaking. Grace was just fun and the kind of mom most kids would love to have. I did like that she was playful but didn't lose sight that she was the adult.

Revisado: 12-11-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend to the Young Adult audience. Less so to older readers.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I like the mafia grandmother
Which scene was your favorite?
When she had to pee so bad and was dressed in a way that made it difficult to perform this activity. Sure she gets caught in the bushes with her costume down. What's a girl to do.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
I don't think this book would make a good movie.
Any additional comments?
I found Lacey too hyper for my taste. Her personality seemed scattered. Liked the fast pace and it does have many funny situations that Lacey and her bff get themselves into. Also was a fresh storyline with her finding out her mom's secret.

Brisk pace with non-stop twists and turns
Revisado: 12-11-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, especially to younger listeners.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Chasing the Dollar?
For me what stands out is when the protagonist runs and escapes being shot and hides under a table at an outdoor bizarre.
What about Teri Schnaubelt’s performance did you like?
Schnaubelt is a excellent narrator that gets a lot of animation into her characters. She ups the already fast paced story.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No
Any additional comments?
I liked this book very much, it was exciting and full of lots of action. I did not care for the sex in it. It seemed unrealistic. I ask you, who has a long day, escapes being murdered (again) drives many miles over rough terrain, is totally exhausted and can barely stay awake, wants to engage in sex? No one I know.

Historia
This is the first volume in a bold new series that tells the stories of all peoples, connecting historical events from Europe to the Middle East to the far coast of China, while still giving weight to the characteristics of each country. Susan Wise Bauer provides both sweeping scope and vivid attention to the individual lives that give flesh to abstract assertions about human history. This narrative history employs the methods of "history from beneath" - literature, epic traditions, private letters, and accounts - to connect kings and leaders with the lives of those they ruled.

Probably will
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Being history there is nothing to make the ending stand out. It is non-fiction.
Which scene was your favorite?
I like history so many things could be fav's
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No
Any additional comments?
The narrator was very good. The book lacks the humor and continuity of Ian Mortimer's books. It seems to vacillate with erudite and splashes of humor. It didn't work well. Overall not a bad book and better than many other history books. Not something I'd consider written for 'Everyman'.

Revisado: 12-10-15
Where does Murder in Deer Park rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Very high
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the way Gary Ruse melded fiction and non fiction. It was true to the facts and events but Cleveland and Francis solve a murder. Certainly a different and memorable Honeymoon.
Which character – as performed by Erik Baker – was your favorite?
Actually I liked them all. His voice is amazing and he manages by magic I guess, to capture the era. He had such distinctive voices for every character. Strangely he sounds much older than he looks or is. It would be great to hear more books narrated by him.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No, but I did like the sensitivity Ruse imbued Cleveland with. Cleveland was a well loved and popular president and known for his honesty and intelligence. Between the narrator and the author they brought out all the best of everyone.
Any additional comments?
I loved this book and highly recommend it. The historical facts are accurate and the murder mystery was intriguing. It inspired me to
read more about this great president and his May/December marriage. I only gave 4 stars for the story because it is only 3+ hours long. Other than that it was a 5 star story.

Organized as a travel guide for the time-hopping tourist, The Time-Traveler's Guide to Elizabethan England is an entertaining popular history with a twist. Historian Ian Mortimer reveals in delightful (and occasionally disturbing) detail how the streets and homes of 16th century looked, sounded, and smelled for both peasants and for royals; what people wore and ate; how they were punished for crimes and treated for diseases; and the complex and contradictory Elizabethan attitudes toward violence, class, sex, and religion.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Time Traveler's Guide to Elizabethan England?
There are way to many memorable moments in this book. Lot of laughs and a clever way to look at history,
What about Mike Grady’s performance did you like?
the narrator was fantastic
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes but way too long for that. It is one that I will listen to more than a few times.
Any additional comments?
I loved this book, such a clever way to learn about history. You can really see what the problems would be if you were transported to the past. I think I would not do well. The horrible smells would do me in for sure. On the other hand anyone from the 21st. century would no doubt not last long there. Lot of laugh out loud moments and a thought provoking book.
