The Executive Board of an exclusive men's club meets to talk about 9/11 and finalize a retaliation plan, known by a code name: Wild Fire. That weekend, a member of the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force is found dead. It's up to Detective John Corey and his wife, FBI Agent Kate Mayfield, to unravel a terrifying plot that starts with the Custer Hill Club and ends with American cities locked in the crosshairs of a nuclear device.

Entertaining, but not great.

Here's a joke that exemplifies the sense of humor of the protagonist in this book: "What's the difference between this audiobook and a steaming piece of sh*t?.... $24.95.... Just kidding."
The good: The book's premise was interesting, the story flowed pretty well, and the book was reasonably entertaining overall. Also, Scott Brick did a great job of narrating. Ultimately, I didn't think it was a total waste of time and/or money.
That said, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this book to friends, either: As others have observed, the protagonist was a little irritating. His sense of humor was obnoxious, overwhelming, and distracting -- and frankly, it typically wasn't very funny. For me, it's hard to REALLY enjoy a book if I don't affirmatively like the protagonist. Also, the book was a little predictable, and the characters and dialogue were often shallow and cliche. On the whole, this book is fine. But unless you're truly desperate to find something to read, I'd recommend choosing a different book.

Historia
The Osama bin Laden I Know is the definitive history of the world's most wanted man. Author Peter Bergen is CNN's terrorism analyst and an acclaimed journalist who actually spent time with bin Laden prior to the events of September 11, 2001. The book features interviews with people from each stage of bin Laden's life, from childhood to the present day, and reveals both formative moments and intimate details that reveal his character and personality.

Disappointed
Revisado: 04-28-06
The title of this book is a bit curious, as Mr. Bergen shares little personal insight about Osama bin Laden. Frankly, the book is little more than a succession of quotes about bin Laden that Mr. Bergen simply compiled and regurgitated from other sources. It gets old rather quickly.
After I bought this audiobook, I saw a special about Osama bin Laden on the Discovery Channel. It presented the same types of insights about Osama bin Laden as Mr. Bergen does in his book, but in a more efficient and interesting fashion. And, of course, it was free. Look it up, Tivo it, and don't waste your time or money on this book.
