Not worth a credit
Revisado: 04-19-21
This book is cute and a nice light read, if that is what you are looking for. But it is superficial and way too short to spend a whole credit on. I will probably read the other books in the series using some other means but I won’t be spending mt Audible credits for them.

Sweet Story
Revisado: 07-01-18
I enjoyed this book very much, although, in my opinion, the 1885 setting was not entirely authentic, as to the way the people lived at that time. The characterization was really good, especially considering there were several to consider.
I thought I was not going to like the narrator. Her pronunciation of words, even though more correct than many of us speak, seemed a little annoying at first. But I quickly got used to it and ended up liking her very much.
This is a good Christian read and I am looking forward to the rest of the series, which I have already purchased.

Great series
Revisado: 06-27-18
I enjoyed both the books in this Fairham Island series. Lots of surprises, good characterization, and setting. Sweet romance written well. The narrator has a pleasant voice but often put emphasis on the wrong words and you have to think about what the author was trying to get across. Plus, all her male voices are annoying and ugly.

Worst Audible Book I Have Purchased
Revisado: 04-08-18
Once I pay for a book, I will usually listen to it, even if it is disappointing. I read some other books by this author and they were ok. But this book was the worst piece of drivel and I finally just gave up. Not only is the story silly and unbelievable, the narrator sounded like she was reading to a group of kids in the reading circle at the library. Never will I purchase another book read by her. Please don’t waste your money or your credit on this garbage.

Historia
Carlin Reed lives in fear, off the grid, moving from place to place. So Battle Ridge, Wyoming, a small town in the middle of nowhere, seems like a good place to lie low for a while. But after becoming cook and housekeeper to cattle rancher Zeke Decker, Carlin suspects that she’s made her first mistake. Rugged, sexy, and too distracting for his own good, Zeke is pure temptation mixed with something deep and primal that makes Carlin feel almost safe. Soon things are getting way too hot in the kitchen.

Worth hearing over and over
Revisado: 03-22-18
This is a great book! Period! These two writers are truly gifted with the use of the English language. There is perfect balance between the descriptions and the dialogue. The narrator does a superb job with the voices of the different characters, as well as appropriately placing emphasis and stress in the right places.
The story is exciting and keeps you wanting to know what happens next. There is romance and humor along the way. I very much hoped for a series because there are other characters in the book whose story I would love to know, such as Kat and Spencer. But I understand that is not to be so. I was very disappointed to hear that.

Revisado: 03-07-18
Linda Howard does not disappoint. She is magic with her pen. Wonderful characterization and a great story. Also, I am very hard on narrators. They can make or break a good book I had not listened to anything narrated by Ms. Maarleveld and I was concerned. She was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed the book and plan to “read” it again soon, in case I missed anything.

Hate the ending!!!!
Revisado: 07-02-17
I usually love Karen Robard's books. But I like a little romance/relationship with my thrillers. This is strictly a thriller. You think there is going to be a relationship but it never fans out. I see this is Book 1 in a series. There are several issues just left hanging with no conclusion for the reader. Maybe Book 2 will take care of it. I was somewhat disappointed. The narrator is pretty good except for her male characters.

I love the way Ms Howard allows us to know her characters. You can so easily picture in your mind the way they look, think and react. She never leaves the reader hanging on even the smallest detail. This is a good story and The narrator does s good job job with it.

I love this story. It is a another winner from Linda Howard. The narrator has a good voice except when she reads the lines of the heroine, Jane. It got quite annoying at times but I will listen to it again.
