Worst FMC I’ve read in awhile

Main story beat is fine but the FMC is a full doormat and an idiot. I can’t stand how her stupidity sets up the climax. The first of the 2 books in the collection is pretty good, it’s the second when the flaws become more apparent. Overall ok story with a FMC that ruins it for me. Your mileage may vary

I like the series I really do but I’m so tired of how it’s written, you get on chapter of the Main Character then a cliff hanger then one more chapter of the MC 10 hours later but in between you get an hour of 1 side character and 8 uninterrupted hours of flashbacks between two characters I’m starting to hate. I thought I was reading a chill litrpg about an innkeeper but the innkeeper hasn’t been in the last 3 books

Didn’t like this one nearly as much as the last. Felt like the author tried to grow the world out to fast. It didn’t feel natural and made the story feel disjointed from what came before. I also really hate that the author sets up a cliffhanger in the prologue, sets the story back a month so you can build to that event and doesn’t pay it off, ending at that same cliffhanger, just feels super disrespectful of the readers time

Honestly such a dumb book to have wasted my time and credit on. The first book was fine if a bit generic so I have no idea what happened with this one. It’s like the author has no understanding of anything outside of writing. The sports were wrong, the court stuff was wrong, and the behavior of the characters felt horribly inconsistent. It was infuriating screaming to my self that’s not how any of this works 4 separate times throughout the novel. It’s like if a space alien explained American teenage life. So done with this

If you’re here, then like me, I’m going to assume you’ve read all the other Willow Heights books. I’m tired of retreading the same story for the 4th time. Can we move a little further forward at some point? We are literally retreading exact events from the last book during the time frame of Harpers books. I just want to know what comes next not more angles of what we’ve seen

I love bully romances, they are probably my favorite guilty pleasure sub-genre, but this story just didn’t work for me. First, every MMC sucks. They stalk, assault, and belittle the FMC but they are hot so it’s all good. She’s famous but none of their behavior raises red flags and she’s attracted to and excuses all these random jerks who have literally never done a single nice thing for her. Its just really depressing, most BRs give you, the reader, a reason to like the MMC even while he’s bullying the FMC but this book just assumes since you know what kind of story it is you’ll get over the fact that all the MMCs are creepy and unlikeable because the FMC thinks they are hot.

I hate books where the MC finishes the book damseled, especially when it goes the way this book did. Revenge would have been better

Disappointing final “villain”

I didn’t hate this book, for the most part if you’ve been following this series this book gives what you were looking for. I’m just super disappointed in how the book resolves it’s major conflict. This book falls into the all to familiar trope of changing the base of the conflict at the end of the book in order to make both of our FMCs “good” people the whole time. There was a major opportunity to make our titular “villain” have a major reformation over the 20 year period since the conflict that put our 2 MCs in opposition and the author chose to ignore that in favor of making so that our villain was really the hero the whole time. Honestly just very disappointing considering how well they set everything else up.

That being said both narrators are very good although the mixing on Malones seems a little off. When transitioning from Aurora to Malone it seems a little overly loud until you get used to it.

The non ending of this book ruined this series

I hate the ending of this book. The author built up the perfect set up to end the series here. She gave us the perfect opportunity for our MC's to finally act against the villain and end the series on a bittersweet note and instead the MC's do nothing while the big bad does the worst thing we've seen them do and the book ends on a cliffhanger that sets up a 4th book. Now at the time of this review the whole series is already out so I knew there was another book going in but I did not see the way this book prepares us for the big climax of the story and then just doesn't happen yet. I honestly don't want to finish this story now because I don't want to a) buy an unneeded 4th book and b) the MCs non action at the end of this book ruin their characters for me. Honestly just very disappointed, especially since I loved the follow up series.

Not a lot of Bully in this Bully romance

As the headline says, not a lot of bully in this BR, the MMC falls in Insta love with the FMC and the bullying is always a small footnote in the story.

I’ll also never understand why authors who don’t know anything about sports dedicate so much time to them in their stories. She uses so many football terms incorrectly and her descriptions of what’s happening make no sense if you have a passing familiarity with the sport. What’s worse is that they serve little purpose to the story as the MMC being a football player is such a minor point yet completely pull me out of the story.

Lastly narrator is pretty good, her Harlow was really well done but her Ian is a little weird. Maybe a bit to feminine but you can get used to it after a while.
