I liked the detail of this massive eruption and it how the writer tied it into how it changed the world since no one had ever taken the time to connect the dots before.
I would recommend to anyone curious about major eruptions in human history and all history buffs in general.
I gave it 4 stars because while I did love it. I want more. Such as I had seen a comparison elsewhere of Krakatoa being like the explosion of 16,000 atomic bombs and the energy released from Tambora was equivalent to 2.2 million atomic bombs.

Needed a better narrator

This novel by a smaller publishing company I guess had to settle for a so-so narrator. His performance was better than book 1 in this series.
This is the final novel in the trilogy. But in true planet of the dead fashion it leaves with a slight cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more.

Bad performance killed this for me

Bad audio performance. Too bad cause it's a good book I read it a few years ago. But the narrator is boring. He's not enthusiastic, Like he'd rather be elsewhere. A much better narrator should have been used. This was a poor choice on the part of audible. They dropped the ball here.

Good but not great conclusion

Heir to the empire was a masterpiece and very strong start to the Thrawn trilogy. This is a good conclusion to that trilogy, but not great. The weakest of the 3 novels. But still highly recommended. Mostly because this journey starts with heir to the empire a TRUE STAR WARS MASTERPIECE!

A descent novel. Not great. Not terrible. But has a fan of Robert Mccammon, I've come to expect more. This would be a masterpiece for a lesser author. But for him, it's just a good novel

Mix of John Carpenter's THE FOG & Dawn of the Dead

What made the experience of listening to The Night Boat the most enjoyable?

I read the boat more than 20 years ago & have always had a fondness for it. To hear it was like listening to a movie. First time I read it, I loved it. Reminded me of the 1979 film The Fog by John Carpenter, Then you see the zombie side come out in the story. This novel should be turned into a movie.

What did you love best about They Thirst?

My husband & I are not huge vampire lovers, so the fact that we really love this book, speaks for its self!

What did you like best about this story?

Love the way it starts and then like a slow moving whirlwind it it keeps picking up speed has it throws a huge ensemble of interesting characters into the mix.

Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He does a good job, like he did with Mccammon's The Night Boat". One moment he can sound like a sith lord, then like a nice neighbor. He reads well, But sometimes he seems a little detached, like he doesn't seem to be into it. I guess it happens when you have 100s of pages to read. But otherwise good job. I like him.
