I enjoyed this immensely! I have never heard of Simon R. Green let alone Ishmael Jones mysteries. I was looking for something different from what I normally listen to and happened upon this little treasure. It was as if I was watching a book instead of listening to a movie. It grab my attention right away and I binged listened to each book in the series. Graphic Audio absolutely delivered on their motto: "A movie in your mind" because the characters come to life in your mind...literally! It's nothing like listening to a book that you already know the plot/story from previous editions, It's brand new and I actually prefer the dramatizations over a "one-person" narrative story (my sleep aid). Now, I find myself downloading everything Graphic Audio produces. Scott McCormick and Laura C. Harris are just fantastic and I just found another series of books that they are portraying in and I am even more excited to hear their comradery again.

When the rules turn deadly, winning is everything. Only available from Audible, a gripping psychological thriller from the author of Silent Child, Saving April, and The Broken Ones. Perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn, Lisa Jewell and Paula Hawkins. The perfect couple. The perfect marriage. The perfect game. Effie and Ben May have everything. Success. Beauty. Glamour. But beneath the charming smiles and expensive clothes, a twisted game is in progress. A game for which only they know the rules.

This was juicy! The story flows and the unexpected ending, superb! I enjoyed Billie Piper & Dan Stevens very much and the other players, whew, what can I say.
For me, it was a nail-bitter, edge of your seat kinda ride that took you on dips and trips you were NEVER ready for.
I highly recommend this and I believe I would actually do a listening party with this one.

Historia
The butchered body of a cross-dresser is found in a dumpster in Chinatown, New York. Nothing out of the ordinary for the NYPD, except, this time, the victim is Detective Phee Freeman’s brother. At first the slaying looks like the random act of a vicious killer, but when it is discovered that there are similar ritualistic murders throughout the city, Phee and his partner Quincy Cavanaugh, along with FBI Agent Janet Maclin, have no choice but to join forces with Dr. Daria Zibik, a brilliant but deranged Satanic cult leader serving time at a maximum security prison.

Revisado: 02-08-24
O.M.Goodness, that opening prison scene blew my mind and whew...Mr LaSalle, you're BRILLIANT! I was so captivated that I had force myself to stop listening so I can sleep. The flow of the story, the retribution instead of revenge 😉 and the connections were outstanding. Although, I'm the type who roots for the underdog, I was disappointed the Clay didn't get his come-uppings for the family he killed but overall, this is a compelling read and do desire more. So, with that being said, I starting Laws of Annihilation now!

Every ten years, for the past 30 years, a dozen clergymen are killed, brutally murdered in twisted scenes emulating the deaths of Jesus and his disciples. Now, "The Martyr Maker" has set his mark on New York City. 30 years. 36 priests butchered. His bloodiest masterpiece is yet to come.

Revisado: 02-07-24
I just finished listening to this and currently listening to the epilogue right NOW! I went ahead and bought the remaining two books in the series. The flow of the plot, the excitement of the chase and the not too much mushy, gushy stuff makes this a perfect read. Eriq La Salle voice just puts me on the couch as if I am watching this all unfold in front of me.
I highly recommend this to those who loves thrillers because I was just thrilled from beginning to end and I want more. Aww, so good, so freaking good!

Revisado: 12-11-23
I'm sitting here at work, looking for something to listen on this dreary Monday morning and I found this fun-filled audio book. I have heard how Sherlock Holmes used children occasionally for his investigation, but this was so much fun to listen to. It was exciting, thrilling and invigorating. It made me wish I was one of Holmes' Baker Street Irregulars (as I remember them growing up in S.E, DC).
I have always escaped to mysteries as a kid and this just drew me in. And Bill Nighy as the Cat or should I say DW (not to spoil it for anyone else) was just everything. I didn't want it to end and now I'm searching Audible to see if there's anything else like this.
I would highly recommend this to all who loves a good mystery. **BRAVO**

The Secret of Brimley Manor - Outstanding
Revisado: 10-02-23
I loved this one. I purchased a Cherringham compilation, this book really spoke to me. Being a decedent of slavery, it's normal for people of color to be the first suspect in any crime, especially on a stately manor house, even to be the perpetrator but this time, it's not the case. Sure, who wouldn't want retribution for slavery which has lead to systemic racism everywhere but to see the author appreciate the contribution of people of color, even in such a minute manner goes a long way. Thank you.
I love the narrator, who I currently watch on Midsomer Murders, has a very captivating and varied range to his voice. It's not the tone of his voice when he speaks the females lines, but more so the delivery and that's BRILLIANT!

Like his actor namesake, Ronald Coleman is a suave, well-spoken English gentleman. But although he's a movie buff, Coleman is no film star - he's a copper, and a Detective Inspector to boot. Together with his down-to-earth Scottish partner, DS Fred Astor, he sets about solving cases on two very different patches - rural Kirkcaldy and inner-city Southampton.

I figured this would be another detective series with a bumbling idiot for a sargent but no, street smart and put upon underlings show their worth at every turn. I even enjoyed the arrogant Inspector for once with his funny film noir quotes that are always off-putting to those around him. The performance was spectacular and each story builds on the relationship between the Inspector and HIS sargent. Recommend this one for the pure enjoyment of storytelling.

Historia
With his cape, canes and shovel hat, portly amateur sleuth Dr Gideon Fell cuts an eccentric figure - but his odd appearance belies his sharp intellect and astonishing faculty for deduction. Created by crime novelist John Dickson Carr and supposedly based on fellow author G. K. Chesterton, Dr Fell appeared in 23 novels between 1933 and 1967. This radio collection comprises all eight of the BBC adaptations based on Carr's best-selling books.

Revisado: 03-28-23
I have always been a fan of John Dickson Carr and really thought I was getting treasure when downloading this collection. Donald Sinden is excellent! However, the dramatization is missing some pieces of most of the stories. I found that the worst of the lot was "The House on Gallows Lane". I really wanted Cynthia to get her come uppings for her jealousy over Leslie. And I don't know what they did with "The Blind Barber".
Yet, I still enjoy these so much; they carry me through on my busiest days at work. I do, moreover, recommend reading the actual books if you want to fully immerse yourself in the world of John Dickson Carr.
