Historia
All the Ways to Say I Love You by Neil LaBute, directed by Leigh Silverman, is a thoughtful, psychological solo play centered around the character Faye Johnson, performed by multi-award-winning actress Judith Light (Transparent, American Crime Story, Who's the Boss?). Reflecting on an event from her past, Johnson confronts the defining question of her life: What is the weight of a lie?
All the Ways to Say I Love You received its World Premiere production at the MCC Theater in September of 2016. MCC is under the leadership of Artistic Directors Robert Lupone, Bernard Telsey, William Cantler, and Executive Director Blake West.
Bonus content includes an Audible-exclusive conversation between director Leigh Silverman and actress Judith Light.

Judith Light delivers a layered eye opening portrayal of a tormented woman. Really good stuff here. Strong, sexy, smart and honest.

Historia
The setting is Atlanta, Georgia—a racially mixed, late-twentieth-century boomtown full of fresh wealth and wily politicians. The protagonist is Charles Croker, once a college football star, now a late-middle-aged Atlanta conglomerate king whose outsize ego has at last hit up against reality. Charlie has a 29,000-acre quail-shooting plantation, a young and demanding second wife, and a half-empty office complex with a staggering load of debt.

Terrific narration of engaging story
Revisado: 06-26-18
Truly enjoyed this Tim Wolfe story. Wish it had gone in longer.
David Ogden Stiers proves as masterful a narrator as Mr. Wolfe does a storyteller. Flawless accents and fully realized portrayals.

Historia
The Corrections is a grandly entertaining novel for the new century--a comic, tragic masterpiece about a family breaking down in an age of easy fixes. After almost 50 years as a wife and mother, Enid Lambert is ready to have some fun. Unfortunately, her husband, Alfred, is losing his sanity to Parkinson's disease, and their children have long since flown the family nest to the catastrophes of their own lives. Enid has set her heart on an elusive goal: bringing her family together for one last Christmas at home.

Took a while but worth it
Revisado: 06-09-18
Took a while to get into the story of this sad family. However, it was worth it. The writing is rich, evocative and exquisite in its descriptions. Overall, I enjoyed it. The narrator is excellent.

Hard to Follow
Revisado: 06-09-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No. Too complicated for me to follow.
Would you ever listen to anything by Ann Patchett again?
Maybe.
Have you listened to any of Hope Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Do you think Commonwealth needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. I was sorta glad when the book was over.
Any additional comments?
So wish I had a page with the cast of characters to which I could refer now and then. A complicated plot made even more so by the shifting of time and POV. There are some sweet moments in it, but I did thirst for one major character to follow. I really could not keep the characters straight.

Historia
Dorothea Brooke is an ardent idealist who represses her vivacity and intelligence for the cold, theological pedant Casaubon. One man understands her true nature: the artist Will Ladislaw. But how can love triumph against her sense of duty and Casaubon’s mean spirit? Meanwhile, in the little world of Middlemarch, the broader world is mirrored: the world of politics, social change, and reforms, as well as betrayal, greed, blackmail, ambition, and disappointment.

I chose this book because a Dartmourh professor had said it was considered the greatest novel in English literature. But wow...the narrator Juliet Stevenson stirred such life into it. I want to hear her narrate more.
