Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Thinking about this book? You should.
Revisado: 06-21-22
I think, although this is the first book of theirs I have read, that NK Jemisin is among the most imaginative storytellers of our time. I bought the book and the audible recording, and I highly recommend that approach. It’s nice to look at the page to confirm what you thought you heard. And the narrator is absolutely the best in the hundreds of books I have enjoyed on this platform. Are you thinking of getting this book? Stop thinking and do it.

A beautiful and moving story. I only wish the songs have been actually performed on the audiobook.

Great Fall reading!
Revisado: 10-08-16
This is an excellent description of the thoughts words and actions of Tony LaRussa during a three-game series between the Cardinals and the Cubs in 2003. It's great reading in the fall, as we all pay more attention to every pitch and every play in what is still America's pastime.

Historia
Robert A. Caro's life of Lyndon Johnson continues - one of the richest, most intensive, and most revealing examinations ever undertaken of an American President. The Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer/historian carries Johnson through his service in World War II and the foundation of his long-concealed fortune and the facts behind the myths he created about it. But the explosive heart of the book is Caro's revelation of the true story of the fiercely contested 1948 senatorial election.

A tremendous storyteller!
Revisado: 02-19-16
Caro is the second best historical writer I've ever read. Given that the first is Shelby Foote, that's as high praise as I can give!
