I enjoyed the Sci Fi aspect of it
Revisado: 03-30-25
It was a great story and I really enjoyed the Science Fiction/Fantasy angle. There was too much killing with details for my taste. I think that part could have been handled more subtly.

The Book Was Exciting and Satisfying

I liked that it stayed in the time until the end. The suspense was riveting, and the solutions realistic.

How much truth depends on perspective.
Revisado: 03-28-24
I found the book heartbreaking in many ways. The plight of the Gambol family and the poverty of Jake Brigantz points out how unfair life is. The book was fascinating. Mr. Grisham is a masterful author.

Historia
Ava thinks love should be found in the real world, not on apps that filter men by height, job, or astrological sign. She believes in feelings, not algorithms. So after a recent breakup and dating app debacle, she decides to put love on hold and escapes to a remote writers' retreat in coastal Italy. At the retreat, she's not allowed to use her real name or reveal any personal information. When the neighboring martial arts retreat is canceled and a few of its attendees join their small writing community, Ava, now going by "Aria", meets "Dutch", a man who seems too good to be true.

Caricatures of the Rest of Us
Revisado: 03-09-24
I smiled much of the time I was listening to the book, which goes to show how well-written it is. The characters seemed so extreme. But about half way through, I realized that the book could describe every relationship. There are times when we wonder if we have anything in common with our partners, but other times when we feel totally in sync. Overall, I have to say it's a brilliant book

Complex, but Enjoyable
Revisado: 02-21-24
Ms. Bowen is an incredible writer. I couldn't guess the perpetrator until the main character did. It's a brilliant psychological study about how our actions and perceptions affect us. The story is rich and easy to listen to. It's kind ofa sad story.

Revisado: 02-02-24
The autobiography was quite in depth. His social commentary made me more aware of my own failings and question my desire to visit Africa. I learned a lot from this book and my heart aches for all the pain he suffered.

Historia
Former Federal Air Marshal Stephen Mason has again done the impossible. He has passed back through an unexplainable time portal and reunited with the three people he cares about most. It's 1720, Charles Town, Carolina Colony, a time and place fraught with hardships and hazards. Carving out a life here will be challenging, especially for these modern-day transplants. There are few people they can trust, none in whom they can confide. But they have each other. And they have a rice plantation.

Ms. Scottoline does a vrilliant job of capturing wrenching emotions. The story has very clever twists and turns. The main character grows and learns, which isvimportant to me. However, it is a very sad book.

But non-stop leaping around the timeline—from witnessing Magna Carta to disturbing a certain young man with a penchant for gunpowder—is beginning to take its toll. Is Max going mad? Or are the ghosts of the past finally catching up with her?

I enjoyed the book, although sometimes the sad bits went on a bit long. Enough infirmation was provided and I am familiar enough with the series that I was able to guess what had happened previously. The ending was brilliant.
