Historia
This magnificent novel by one of America's finest writers is the epic of one man's remarkable journey, set in 19th-century America against the background of a vanishing people and a rich way of life. At the age of 12, under the Wind moon, Will is given a horse, a key, and a map, and sent alone into the Indian Nation to run a trading post as a bound boy. It is during this time that he grows into a man, learning, as he does, of the raw power it takes to create a life, to find a home.

Just Can't finish it
Revisado: 08-30-23
I really wanted to like this book. I love Karen Slaughter. But this was a wasted credit for me. I purchased another book to try. The narrator is fine, but the story is just not for me.

Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Don't think that I can finish it.
Revisado: 11-10-22
I am disappointed a lot these days in my Audible purchases. If I try to return too many, they make me feel a bit funny about it. That keeps me from trying many new writers. I thought I would be safe with John Grisham, but this seems to be written by someone else. I didn't want a history lesson; I wanted a novel. I had to stop listening, and I don't think that I can pick it up and finish it. My how this author has changed. I really wish that I had the courage to try and return it. It is the last John Grisham novel that I will purchase!!!!!

Historia
Leigh Collier has worked hard to build what looks like a normal life. She has a good job as a defense attorney, a daughter doing well in school, and even her divorce is relatively civilized - her life is just as unremarkable as she’d always hoped it would be. But Leigh’s ordinary life masks a childhood that was far from average...a childhood tarnished by secrets, broken by betrayal, and finally torn apart by a devastating act of violence.

Much too long
Revisado: 10-26-21
This book could have been several hours shorter and written with much less sex and violence and perhaps been much easier to stomach. The voice of Buddy grated on my nerves and made this book almost impossible to listen to. I have listened to and loved other Karen Slaughter books, but this one is trash.

Don't know if I can finish this
Revisado: 11-11-20
The characters are so "whiny" and the southern accent so fake at times that I am not sure that I can finish this. I have listened to previous John Grisham novels and enjoyed them immensely, but this one was a wasted credit as far as I am concerned. I am ready for them to "cut to the chase" and end this thing. I wish that I had not wasted one of my credits on this book.

Great book, but it is OLD!
Revisado: 03-07-20
The release date says 2020, but this is an old book. I have not listened to it before, but I thought I was getting the next in the series, not an old book. I hate it when I don't pay attention to the Book Number and purchase a book according to the release date. This happens a lot of the time. Don't try to make us purchase old books that we have already read by making it look as if they are new releases.

Historia
It is New Year's Eve, nearly six weeks into an off-and-on blizzard that has locked Alaska down, effectively cutting it off from the outside world. But now there are reports of a plane down in the Quilak mountains. With the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board - responsible for investigating aviation incidents) unable to reach the crash site, ex-trooper Jim Chopin is pulled out of retirement to try to identify the aircraft, collect the corpses, and determine why no flight has been reported missing. But Jim discovers survivors: two children who don't speak a word of English.

Historia
Cassie McDowell’s life in 1980s Minnesota seems perfectly wholesome. She lives on a farm, loves school, and has a crush on the nicest boy in class. Yes, there are her parents’ strange parties and their parade of deviant guests, but she’s grown accustomed to them. All that changes when someone comes hunting in Lilydale. One by one, local boys go missing. One by one, they return changed - violent, moody, and withdrawn. What happened to them becomes the stuff of shocking rumors. The accusations of who’s responsible grow just as wild, and dangerous town secrets start to surface.

Good, but drags a little
Revisado: 01-15-20
While this was a good story, it had some unnecessary detail that made it a little too long. It could have been shorter and still told the story well. It was a little weird, and the father was quite disturbing. Not recommended for the squeamish.

Readers Beware
Revisado: 01-10-20
This is an OLD book marketed as a new release! I purchased it not realizing that I had read it several years ago. I have returned several books that I hated after the first few chapters, and now have to send emails to return anything. I am not sure, but I think that they think I am reading and returning, when I am actually returning books that I can't get through! Anyway, this is a great book, just be sure you did not read it many years ago!!!!!

Just can't bring myself continue
Revisado: 01-02-20
I grew up on Stephen King novels, Carrie, the Stand, and all of those wonderful, scary novels, but I can't get past the first chapter of this. First of all, he needs to hire a narrator. Then, I can see that it might be a good story, but it is so drawn out, that the reader loses interest trying to wade through all of the unnecessary wordiness. Sorry, Stephen King, I did try you again, but it is a no go!
