Historia
In The Anxious Generation, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt lays out the facts about the epidemic of teen mental illness that hit many countries at the same time. He then investigates the nature of childhood, including why children need play and independent exploration to mature into competent, thriving adults. Haidt shows how the “play-based childhood” began to decline in the 1980s, and how it was finally wiped out by the arrival of the “phone-based childhood” in the early 2010s.

As a mom of teens, this author’s work is truly invaluable. Society as a whole, is changing right before our very eyes. We can DO something about this. There are many practical ways we can bring about healing change to our youth, and this book does a great job at explaining how and why.

Historia
Glucose, or blood sugar, is a tiny molecule in our body that has a huge impact on our health. It enters our bloodstream through the starchy or sweet foods we eat. Ninety percent of us suffer from too much glucose in our system—and most of us don’t know it. The symptoms? Cravings, fatigue, infertility, hormonal issues, acne, wrinkles. Drawing on cutting-edge science and her own pioneering research, biochemist Jessie Inchauspé offers ten simple, surprising hacks to help you balance your glucose levels and reverse your symptoms—without going on a diet or giving up the foods you love.

So much great information here… The author really seems to pull in so much of the top research into one concise plan. My family and I have been adopting several of the hacks and have already been noticing some really amazing changes. I’m not on the socials, but I am motivated to go check out her Instagram account and see all of the visuals she has as well!

While the world seems to be in love with the idea of tiny houses and minimalism, many of us simply can't purge it all and start from nothing. Yet a home with too much stuff is difficult to maintain, so where do we begin? Add in paralyzing emotional attachments and constant life challenges, and it can feel almost impossible to make real decluttering progress.

This book was very informative… It confirmed a lot of feelings that I’ve had, but not quite sure what to do with. My children are not quite teens and I see the blessing in having these tools in my toolbelt as we enter this next chapter with them. I put a high value on truly understanding and communicating with my kids and loved hearing so much teen-inspired insight of how to keep true harmony, trust, & mutual respect in our relationships. I own the hardback version of this book but had not made the time to read it… Thanks to Audible, I just listened to the whole book this morning and have a clean house now!

Prepare to be wrecked in the best way!
Revisado: 11-15-18
This book is my favorite read in the last couple years, which is saying a lot, because I’ve read a lot of great books! The author narrates, and you can really hear his true voice come through loud and clear. The personal examples he gives throughout the book are pretty mind blowing… I can’t even imagine what our world would look like if we all decided to live this way. Living a fraction of our lives this way would change the world! That’s my personal goal after reading this book, to begin living more attune to how unbridled my love for others can be.

Great read
Revisado: 02-22-17
This book provided many reminders of how important boundaries are in my life and how helpful they are too, not just for me but those around me as well. I really appreciated how much scripture there was to back up the information. The narrator's version of a woman's voice was indeed a little whiny (like some have said) but not so bad that I couldn't listen. Examples seemed a little corny, but were easy to understand.

Historia
Cracking the communication code between husband and wife involves understanding one thing: that unconditional respect is as powerful for him as unconditional love is for her. It's the secret to marriage that every couple seeks, and yet few couples ever find. While both men and women deserve both love and respect, in the midst of conflict the driving need for a woman is love and the driving need for a man is respect. When either of these needs isn’t met, things get crazy. Based on over three decades of counseling, as well as scientific and biblical research, Love and Respect is for anyone.

Are you one of the millions who crave a new direction in the church, fed up with religious games, empty promises, and cultural Christianity? You are not alone. You are not crazy. Maybe Jesus is ready to interrupt your life. Snatching Jen Hatmaker from the grip of her consumer life, God began asking her questions like, "What is really the point of My Church? What have I really asked of you?" Transparent and imperfect, Jen will engage and inspire you to go beyond comfortable and answer for yourself the question she faced.
