I actually listened to this book twice. Once when I downloaded it a couple of years ago for a road trip. I remember not really enjoying it but I listened in bits and pieces so thought I would give it another listen while painting my house.
I enjoy a book when I like the characters. Toni was a weak character that could not put 2+ 2 together to figure why Calli was a selective mute. Griff was a jerk with no redeeming qualities. Ben thought and did things far beyond what one would expect a 13 year old to do. The Deputy Sheriff (can’t think of his name) was a weak character who did not have any leadership qualities when it came to the search. One would think he would have called the shots and not let Petra’s Dad have his way as he was an emotional wreck. Petra’s mother was a weak character too by her actions when she had trouble getting pregnant. To be honest I did not care for any of the characters in the book except Calli & Petra. The ending was predictable — no big shocking truth.
If you’re doing a tedious task like painting then you might enjoy listening to all the boring details of all the characters’ lives.

A very long story

This book was very long. Had I read it instead of listening to it, I would have skipped over quite a bit.

There were parts in the book that weren't necessary to the story - i.e Percy & Lucy as this never went anywhere. The relationship was hinted at without any real substance.

I would recommend reading this rather than listening to it, although Caroline Lee was excellent as a narrator and this is what kept me listening to the story.

After listening to the whole book I can honestly say that it was a depressing book. Some thing were too conveniently brought to a conclusion and did not seem believable.
I would not recommend this book

This was a nice book to listen to while on a road trip - not too deep a plot. The narrator's voice for the child in the book was hard to listen to. A book about sisters with a predictable ending.

This book was so depressing. I did not like any of the characters in the book. I have never read or listened to a book I disliked so much. Don't waste your money on this.

I enjoyed this book. Very thought provoking. Look forward to reading other books by this author. Narrator was good too.

I listened to this book while on a road trip. The storyline appealed to me when reading the writ up about the book but I found it to be quite simplistic. It was slow to get to the point when it was obvious of what was going to happen next. I probably won't order another book by this author or recommend the author or the book. It passed the time for me while driving. I found the words of the child in this book not to accurately reflect a child of the boy's age.
