Historia
Over its long history, Florida has been many things: a native realm protected by geography; a wilderness that ruined Spanish conquistadors; a place to start over; "god's waiting room". With a native population as high as 900,000 (who all died), it became a pestilential backwater with a few thousand inhabitants, but today is our fourth most populous state, with 19 million. The site of vicious racial violence, including massacres, slavery, and the roll-back of Reconstruction, Florida is now one of our most diverse states, a dynamic multicultural place with an essential role in 21st century America.

It was a very thorough history of the state.
Revisado: 01-23-21
This was a very thorough history of the state of Florida. Many of these reviews are based on people not liking fact-based history. If you delve in to find out more you will find all these things that this writer has written are true. What makes a book good or bad can be how it's written, how it's read, or how it's edited, but not if someone writes a history book and puts actual history in it. This was a good read.

You probably know my name, Lori Jarret. If not my name, you probably know my image and my dance. You've probably seen it on YouTube. It seems like everyone has. My four million dollar happy dance is what most of you think of when you hear my name. I'd like to tell you a little of the before and after of that silly dance and not just the senseless and terrible pain and killing that surrounded it. I'll tell it true, even though much of that mayhem was my own fault.

Compelling and very human characters Infuse this high intensity book. This is not a great Thriller for a bedtime reading, because it will keep you up to finish listening to it. It flows smoothly from chapter to chapter because of the writing style and the amazing narrator. The fun and clear style of writing in this book will definitely have me searching out these new Authors, and excited to read their next adventure.

In this compelling, powerful book, highly respected writer and commentator Jack Holland sets out to answer a daunting question: How do you explain the oppression and brutalization of half the world's population by the other half, throughout history? The result takes the listener on an eye-opening journey through centuries, continents, and civilizations as it looks at both historical and contemporary attitudes to women.

Historia
In this lively and illuminating discussion of his landmark research, esteemed primatologist Frans de Waal argues that human morality is not imposed from above but instead comes from within. Moral behavior does not begin and end with religion but is in fact a product of evolution. For many years, de Waal has observed chimpanzees soothe distressed neighbors and bonobos share their food. Now he delivers fascinating fresh evidence for the seeds of ethical behavior in primate societies that further cements the case for the biological origins of human fairness.
