An absolutely joyful read

I purchased this book a couple of months ago, and my only regret is that I waited that long to listen to it. The story grabs and captures you from the beginning, but I can’t give credit only yo the storyline, because the narration brought it to life! Marin Ireland and Michael Urie were PERFECTLY chosen narrators to a beautifully written book by Shelby Van Pelt. I understand this is her first novel, and I sincerely hope it is not her last. I’ll quit gushing now, so that you can start listening. ENJOY!

It was hard at times to hear some of the horrible events these sisters endured in such explicit detail, but it made me love the happier times they experienced even more. And the extra twists? I’m hooked!

It is doubtful that I would have discovered this novel were it not for the movie that I fell in love with the first time I saw it. As a reader and knowing that any book from which a movie is derived is always better, I had to read. It is beautifully written and I love both stories. The narrator, George Newbern, with his tranquil and tenor voice, brought the book to life and deeply moved me.
