It takes awhile to get to the meat of the story, but once there you’ll become entranced by the cast of characters. The reason I read/listen to her books is because they are so rich in detail and plot. You learn to care about what happens.

I love this series! And the sister series. I love the lore! The characters! The story! All of the books are wordy. I will warn you of that. So, I won’t gush anymore. If you love fantasy steeped in so much lore, then you will love these books.

I was afraid that we were going to have to deal with Maddie’s whining through the entirety of book 2. So glad I was wrong. And Tad Bransen is my new favorite reader. He’s so great. Everybody says so.

It’s Over!

I was so excited when it downloaded. But now I listened to it all. I love this series, but this and the last seem to be barely moving the overall plot forward. Don’t get me wrong. I love the world building and the lore, but since this wasn’t the last book and what was hinted at in the last few sentences, we have a long way to go. Which is good and bad. I get it, the author has spent all this energy and time creating these characters, these gods, these locations; she wants to use them for as long as possible. But I think this storyline needs to end. I think this last “ending” goes to prove that these middle books have quite a bit of filler. And that’s when series books start to tick me off.

I absolutely adore this story. Finnikin is just such a great character. I love him. I truly do. He has everything it takes to be a great boyfriend. I just love him so amazingly much!

I just wanted to take a moment to say I fell in love with Zachary Webber’s voice. Wow. Great story, great narration. Sweet, sexy, hot. With ghosts and stuff.

I do so love stories like this. Castles and maidens and monsters and guards. Attractive guards. Attractive, flirty guards. Where it’s not all about the sexytimez and there’s a story to hear and a mystery to solve. So fantastically wonderful. And the narration so well done. Excellent audiobook.

Easy listen

This story is really sweet. I thought the woman was a bit meh, but I truly love the guy. As always Sebastian York and Andi Arndt are amazing readers. It’s almost as if you want them to read every audiobook you listen to. Great listen. Highly recommended.

I love these books! And the narrators? They are absolutely perfect. I wish this series was longer. I’m about to listen to the last one and then I’ll be so sad. Maybe I’ll like some of her other series, too.
