Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

A Fun Read
Revisado: 01-15-22
At times truly brilliant. At other times...uh... This applies to the story and the narration. I enjoyed it a lot. But, to me, it's not quite classic.

I truly welcome these recordings. Though, I have to admit, Auster's LEVIATHON is the real gem. But, all of his early books are deeply revealing. Starting with these three novellas. If you read all his early works in order, there is this umbrella...well, it...uh...it evolves from book to book. You'll see. This is great literature.

Historia
In celebration of the week-long, once-in-a-decade rite of Apert, the fras and suurs prepare to venture outside the concent's gates - opening them wide at the same time to welcome the curious "extras" in. During his first Apert as a fra, Erasmus eagerly anticipates reconnecting with the landmarks and family he hasn't seen since he was "collected". But before the week is out, both the existence he abandoned and the one he embraced will stand poised on the perilous brink of cataclysmic change.

Extraordinary Book!
Revisado: 02-05-09
Seriously, you might not like this book. You might not "get it". But, if you do, you will realize that this is a remarkable story, filled with mind-expanding themes, cutting edge science, and much, much more. It is completely original science fiction...unconventional...not part of any series...unlike anything. Very worthy of it's author. What's more, it's intelligent...literate...and it stays with you for a very long time after you're done. I highly, highly recommend it! It's well performed, too. But, you know...if you want space opera (and sometimes I do, too)...this ain't that. At all....

Historia
Fraa Erasmus is a young avout living in the Concent of Saunt Edhar, a sanctuary for mathematicians, scientists, and philosophers, protected from the corrupting influences of the "Saecular" world by ancient stone, honored traditions, and complex rituals. Over the centuries, cities, and governments have risen and fallen beyond the concent's walls. Three times during history's darkest epochs, bloody violence born of superstition and ignorance has invaded and devastated the cloistered mathic community.

Curious combination of stories.
Revisado: 11-24-08
The Smith and Moore aren't really "dramatized"...more like read with sound-effects. They're interesting, Smith more than Moore. The others are original radio plays that are much less compelling. I'm not sorry I bought it...but, it could have been better.
