Historia
When I was little, I was obsessed with fairytales. My dad told me the stories of the stars and white knights who rescue princesses. I’d wear a silver plastic crown and stare at the sky, waiting for the day my knight in shining armor would come. Then my dad died, my crown broke, and my mom shipped my sister and me off to boarding school. And then I met them. My knights. Only they’re nothing like the fairytales I grew up on. They’re wrapped in sin and shrouded in darkness. Bossy, protective, alphaholes. And heirs to the Italian mafia.

Revisado: 03-11-25
The reading was okay, the storyline was decent but it ended like a sitcom…I guess it was supposed to be a cliffhanger but it doesn’t inspire the need to go any further with the series & I will not be continuing this series.

Historia
An apparent accidental death turns out to be only the first of many murders. Ben Kendall was a troubled man. Coming back from Vietnam with PTSD and scars that no one else could see, he hid away from the world, filling his house with an ever-increasing amount of stuff, until finally the piles collapsed and he was found dead, crushed beneath his own belongings. But what on first glance looks to be the tragic accidental death of a hoarder maybe something much more - and much deadlier

Revisado: 06-17-23
I am used to these books ending all wrapped up nice & tight. This one and the previous both left things wide open and left me wondering if the bad guy was ever caught. Also, Gunther’s voice still isn’t the same since Mr. Taylorson started narrating again.

Historia
Joe Gunther and his team - the Vermont Bureau of Investigation (VBI) - are usually called in on major cases by local Vermont enforcement whenever they need expertise and backup. But after the state is devastated by Hurricane Irene, the police from one end of the state are taxed to their limits, leaving Joe Gunther involved in an odd and seemingly unrelated series of cases. In the wake of the hurricane, a seventeen-year-old gravesite is exposed, revealing a coffin that had been filled with rocks instead of the expected remains.

I have been listening to this series for weeks!!! I skipped the ones Mr. Taylor’s on didn’t narrate and just finished this one where he comes back as the performer. What happened to the voice? Maybe he should have listened to an old recording to get back in the groove. I’m going to start the next one but if the voice continues to echo the one in this book and not the gravelly one used from the beginning then I’ll pass on the rest of the series.

Anne Rice's richly told novel weaves an irresistible story of two worlds: the witches' world and the vampires' world, where magical powers and otherworldly fascinations are locked together in a dance of seduction, death, and rebirth.

Why did I waste a credit??
Revisado: 07-25-22
I absolutely love Anne Rice & the stories she weaves! BUT. I didn’t even make it through chapter 2. The reader is absolutely awful. His voice reminds me of Vincent Price. There is no differentiation between characters. They are all read with the same flat voice…male, female, English, American, French. Same. Horrible. I can’t listen anymore. Can I get my credit back?

Historia
Rowan's attempt to escape Lasher and his pursuit of her and their child are at the heart of this extraordinary saga. It is a novel that moves around the globe, backward and forward through time, and between the human and demonic worlds. Its many voices - of women, of men, of demons and angels, present and past - haunt and enchant us. With a dreamlike power, the novel draws us through twilight paths, telling a chillingly hypnotic story of occult and spiritual aspirations and passion.

Historia
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

Four hundred years ago, a young singer and a hardened warrior met and loved each other, but their life was torn apart by violence. But no matter how much pain and anger stain their lives, bonds in the Irin race cannot be abandoned. Damien and Sari will never truly leave each other, because those who are destined cannot be ignored.

Why did you change narrators???
Revisado: 04-26-22
I’ve read this series previously & when I found out it was on audiobooks I was excited. The narrator of the first three books was amazing! His tone, the inflections, the distinctions between characters, everything… fabulous. Fast forward to this book #4 WHY WAS THE NARRATOR CHANGED??? I haven’t even made it out of the first chapter and I’m writing this review. The tone is very ROBOTIC and his accents are offensive to my ears. The accents don’t match the previous books and neither does the energy. If Jay Britton is narrating the remaining books then I’ll pass on the audio & just download to kindle.
I’m only finishing this because I paid for it.

The story kept my interest, but the reader was slightly lacking. The reading was very flat and the Boston accents were like nails on a chalkboard. I kept listening because I like the series.

Revisado: 11-11-21
Since learning that this was going to become a tv show I figured I better start listening before I watch the show. This series has been in my list for awhile and I just hadn’t gotten to it. The first book was great and I was so looking forward to the second, even after reading the reviews. Well the reviews are spot on!! The boys in this book are acting like petulant children. It reminds me of kids saying “You’re not the boss of me, or You can’t make me! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve rolled my eyes listening to this book. It is quite predictable. Especially when they are in the other world with the woman.
I am going to force myself to listen to the rest of it & move on to the rest of the series
