Historia
It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive. Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them - not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her. His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble. But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can't entirely explain.

Not my favorite...
Revisado: 04-14-15
This was not my favorite Zombie Fallout book, but I still love the series.
It just seemed like not a lot happened. The whole book consisted of escaping one location and I think if this were a TV series, it could have been covered in one hour episode.

Historia
We live across the thousand dunes with grit in our teeth and sand in our homes. No one will come for us. No one will save us. This is our life, diving for remnants of the old world so that we may build what the wind destroys. No one is looking down on us. Those constellations in the night sky? Those are the backs of gods we see.

Good but not as good as Wool.
Revisado: 02-17-15
This was an interesting story but not as good as Wool. Wool is hard to beat, to be fair. I enjoyed it nonetheless and will continue to read/listen to Hugh Howie books.
I think I would have enjoyed it more if there was more back story...maybe a sequel will be written?! :)

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

Slow moving by good story.
Revisado: 02-10-15
I felt like this book was very slow moving and then bam! All the action took place at once. It was a great story about acceptance and I'm glad I listened to it.

Historia
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, he discovers that Quine's disappearance is no coincidence. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published, it would ruin lives - meaning that almost everyone in his life would have motives to silence him.

To five-year-old Jack, Room is the entire world. It is where he was born and grew up; it's where he lives with his Ma as they learn and read and eat and sleep and play. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits. Room is home to Jack, but to Ma, it is the prison where Old Nick has held her captive for seven years. Through determination, ingenuity, and fierce motherly love, Ma has created a life for Jack. But she knows it's not enough...not for her or for him.

Such a great read!!
Revisado: 10-02-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Room to be better than the print version?
I never read the print version, but I really liked the child-like voice that read the audio version.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jack, I just love how he thinks and sees things. We get to understand the story through his 5-year-old eyes.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
At first I thought the child's voice reading the book would be annoying, but I quickly grew to love it. It really gives the book a lot more character than I think you'd find in the print version.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The escape and how brave Jack was.

A light murder mystery
Revisado: 10-02-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I usually like suspenseful murder mysteries and while this book has a few suspenseful moments, it's not my usual read. With that said it was nice to have a more laid back story for a little break. It's cleverly written and there are some funny parts. It wasn't predictable in that I didn't guess who the killer was. Overall, it kept me entertained which is the point.
Which scene was your favorite?
When Cherry is found in the chocolate fountain...pun intended!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
